I have felt that for years that the last five minutes of Blues games are just painful. I don't know what it is, but they have trouble closing.

But I saw most of the last game, and enough of the Colorado game to be pretty happy. Kyrou looks almost cocky, when I thought he was kinda timid before. I am looking forward to seeing what Neighbors is. Binnington has been good, great sometimes. Vlad looks just old. Hopefully Colton stays healthy, he is great when he is. That head butt was dumb, and I won't even try to spell his name. I still say Thomas should look to shoot a little more. He's a great passer, but sometimes passes on pretty good shots.

Lot of Blues on the Coyotes. Carter Hutton in goal, and Stillman behind the bench. Probably more I don't know about or remember. Schmaltz? I thought he was a Blue once. Never mind, he played for UND, that's where I remember him from.

If we learn how to lock down leads at the end, it will be a good season.
Agreed with pretty much everything here. It was nice to see the burst from Tarasenko on the breakaway in the first tonight. That is really the first time I've really noticed him this year.

With the Coyotes Nick Schmaltz you may also be thinking of his brother Jordan who the Blues drafted in the first round back in 2012. He played a handful of games with the Blues before playing his way out of the league.

Aha, so there was a guy like that. I just seem to remember thinking how confusing it could be to have a Schmaltz and a Schwartz.

Good game last night. Good to see Vlad seem happy for a bit. He may be slower, but that shot still snaps. I thought Binnington looked even better than the first two games.

Really, it was a fun game to watch. Pretty fast paced, quality chances and quality saves, not a ton of penalties. Just a good game, and one I didn't expect them to win.

So you're saying it's a good thing that Armstrong chose to let the Schwartz be with us?

Blues have been fun to watch thus far. A marked departure from the Stanley Cup team that was built on solid defense, puck possession, and grinding out shifts. Defensively we are much weaker, but there's a lot of offensive punch to this team that never lets up. 4 solid forward lines, and good puck-moving defensemen. I'm sure this style of play will have some ups and downs as the season progresses (and we'll probably blow at least a few games in the last minute, because we are horrible at defending 6-on-5). It'll be exciting to watch for the most part though.

and so it begins...
Brandon Saad (COVID protocol) won't be in the lineup on Saturday against Los Angeles.

Saad has one goal and one assist in three games with the Blues this season. Consider him day-to-day for the time being.

I still don't understand these policies...

basically everyone in the NHL is vaccinated. literally. there are 4 players total not vaccinated.

so, if everyone is vaccinated, why do players with covid have to sit out?

covid isn't going away, ever....so is this going to be the new normal?

vaccination has brought this death rate way less than the flu for the general population for those who got the jab (esp for athletes in their primes), but they don't have to sit out for the flu? if they don't feel well they obv can sit out, but no one makes them?

I get it if they don't feel well (like the flu) and want to sit out...but if they want to play, why can't they as they're only around other vaccinated people?

I guess I can see them missing a game as a precaution. It is a respiratory illness, and you certainly want your lungs at full capacity to play hockey at an elite level. But if they can run on a treadmill and feel good, let them play.

Daily Faceoff has learned the NHL and its team of medical experts are currently debating the merits of testing asymptomatic players.

In other words, it’s possible that the NHL modifies the protocol only to test players and team personnel for COVID-19 who present symptoms.

The parties involved, including the NHL Players’ Association, will be jointly reviewing the testing requirements as of Nov. 1. It’s difficult to predict the likelihood of a protocol change for asymptomatic testing because we’re told even the experts have a split opinion.

The NBA does not test vaccinated players, with rare exceptions, according to its published protocol.

A protocol modification is only possible largely because since it was written in August, the NHL now has a more complete picture of the vaccination status of the league. All but four players league-wide (99.5 percent) have been fully vaccinated; every team staff member or personnel, including media, who comes into regular contact with players is also fully vaccinated.
