I can text a service on Signal and within an hour a hipster on a bike is at my house with a case full of weed, edibles, LSD, and mushrooms. So, pretty easy to come by.
But I don't even use that service anymore because cannabis is legal in Illinois and I've come to prefer brick and mortar. The service keeps sending out updates about price cuts. I'm guessing they are feeling the competition.
Soooo….just out of sheer curiosity…once you join or download or whatever this “Signal”….are you able to search for such services, or do you have to have that knowledge/connection already? I dabbled with the online TOR stuff for a while (and even pre-TOR) but its been a long time.
No, Signal is just an encrypted messaging app these particular dealers use to communicate. I'm pretty sure they just bring the goods in from Colorado. Since cannabis has been legal in Illinois I've only used them maybe once or twice. In the early months there were long lines here and product was in pretty short supply. Now that things are stabilized the price of legal cannabis is going down to the point that I'd rather go legal. I've never actually bought any mushrooms or lsd off them, but I know they do sell both and a few friends have bought the mushrooms at least.
Yeah, I’ve definitely been sticking with the dispensaries for weed. Can’t say the prices have gone down around here though - still $55-70 for an eighth and not much of a break if you go with higher quantities. The number of products has increased exponentially though, which is super cool. I remember when they first opened for recreational, they literally had like two strains of flower. Just checked, and the number is now 116.
Are you in Illinois too? My closest dispensary is a Sunnyside which carry a lot of Cresco products. My go-to has become their High Supply shake and I buy it when it's on sale, which seem like every few weeks. I can get 14g of shake for $120 tax included when they have a sale. The shake comes pre-ground and is made from the "popcorn" buds which apparently are smaller buds below the main flower.
To be honest it more than gets the job done for me. I've been an everyday smoker for about 7 or 8 years now and frankly I just don't need the primo bud. I get more than enough of a buzz off this cheaper shake and it's much more economical than buying flower. 2 or 3 hits off my one-hitter after work and I'm good for the whole evening.
You guys should get your med card so you don't have to pay tax. It's about half the price.
I've thought about it, but being a pot smoker, am also quite lazy.
I think it ends up costing around $300 to get the medical card and I'm not sure how often you have to renew it. That 14g of shake I was talking about will last me like 2 - 3 months so I've got to figure out my break even point with the medical card but haven't gotten around to it (see above).

So if I do have a documented condition that’s on the Illinois list (IBS), and I bring up cannabis to my doctor, can he simply say. “No, I don’t recommend that”? Or is there a form he’s just required to fill out that says I have the documented condition? Just wondering what the process is like.

I didn't have it when I lived there, but my buddy got a telemed appointment and cited "stress" and they wrote it for him no questions asked. I think the decriminalization has made the medical eval a formality.

The dispensaries in the Chicago area at least will refer you to "a doctor who understands the medical benefits of cannabis." I would go that route since there's a chance your PCP may not go for it, although you may have a sense of that already based on past interactions with your doctor.
Was heading to a concert the other day. Picked up a few pre-rolls for convenience. One was a 2-pack called Mint Cake by Ozone. Was labeled at 36%. Holy [expletive]. Would recommend.

In my experience, as long as you go to the right place, doctors want to give you a card. From deciding I wanted a card, to registering with a site, to seeing a doctor, to getting my initial approval, was about 30 minutes (the actual card processing took a few weeks, but that was the state). As long as you have a condition, you'll be fine. Well, fine to get a card.
A friend who works for one of those places that helps dispensaries comply with the law during their application process told me prices should be coming down about now. I'd think they'd have to, because there are some places that can't be doing a lot of business at the prices they're charging. I don't remember the last time I saw a car in the customer lot of Root 66 on Manchester, for example.

That's true about Mercy. You can go to any dispensary and they will help you get your green card.
