Zeus, now that you have waded into the waters of bare knuckle office power politics you are going to need some trusted outside consigliere.

Allow me to volunteer our GRB services in that regard. Was the work from home vote a secret ballot? You should start making an enemies list and begin maneuvers to oust your rivals before they oust you.
You're hired. I could use some outside muscle and dirty tricks expertise, and Roger Stone was unavailable.

Next month, we rebrand as Heyzeus PLLC.

That is an excellent example of someone using their privilege to benefit more vulnerable people.

Obviously we're talking about a law firm here, so it's not like they're among the most vulnerable demo in Austin, TX, but as a fellow progressive citizen of a state who's governor is killing more people than Bin Laden because he wants to play political games with public health to increase his profile as the heir to Trump, I certainly appreciate it. My company had to have an important employee die before they finally realized that they can't follow state guidelines to keep employees and their family safe.

Good people do what they can, when they can, for who they can.
It's been apparent from the get go in this Covid thing that we're all on our own. But for those of us in states led by Trumpist science deniers, it's just more dire. In Texas, Governor Abbott issued an order prohibiting school districts from requiring mask usage. My 6 and 9 year olds are obviously too young to be vaccinated, and school starts next week. The Austin school district voted this week to disregard the governor's order and require masks anyway, because sanity. Most likely they will be sued by the state attorney general, a man who has successfully put off trial on his own felony securities fraud indictments for two years and is currently under investigation by the FBI for giving favors to a real estate scammer, and possibly giving his mistress a job with said scammer.

Anyway, we're on our own when it comes to the basic safety of my family. It's great. I'm having a great time in Texas.

Same exact thing is happening in FL with school districts. DeSantis is threatening funding cuts and pay cuts to districts that put a mandate in place.

Thankfully, most counties are defying him anyway.

It's truly insane. What is the upside of the "no mask mandate" during a respiratory virus pandemic?

This nonsense isn't even conservative. It's just right wing populist virtue signaling so DeSantis and Abbott can get the MAGA base vote in the presidential primaries.

Since there is a decent chance that TFG will be sidelined in ‘24, they view “acting tough” and “owning the libs” as essential to gaining his endorsement and the support of his base. It’s a losing strategy because an indicted/convicted Trump will be so self-absorbed that he won’t give 2 flips about them.

A reasonable request. It's just become impossible to discuss the pandemic without using a political lens.

Our company today offered incentives to vaccinate. 2 days off, with pay, or $500.

I'm proud of them for trying to do the right thing.
