Unless someone (else) was rooting for a higher number of deaths and hospitalizations, I'm not sure what goalposts have changed.
So it went from the vaccine is actually supposed to be preventing people from getting COVID, to now it’s as long as it keeps you out of the hospital (which of course is a great thing) is the marker. So the vaccinated now [expletive] and moan about having to wear a mask again, blame the unvaccinated for still spreading the virus all the while they are spreading it just as much.

This just makes me think of the Mark Twain quote:

“It’s easier to fool people than to convince them they have been fooled”
You do understand that from the beginning of the pandemic to where we're at now, the virus has mutated and is much more transmissible, right? If it seems to you like the goalposts have changed, perhaps that is because the game changed??????????

Two days ago the Phizer CEO had an interview that the vaccine efficacy against hospitalization/serious COVID from the Alpha variant after 6-8 months is down to 84%….that’s against ALPHA which this vaccine was supposed to be in the mid 90’s.

I’m sure everyone will say that boosters were always in the books (untrue), and that this is just par for the course.

But at what point does changes to the game turn into lies?

They’ve been talking about possibly needing boosters since at least March, probably earlier. I don’t know what you’re talking about.

From May

Found one from February

Actually the early hope was for a vaccine that was at least 50% effective, because even that’s substantial in a situation like this.

Okay, and the government last week (and possibly currently) is still contradicting that.

And then you reference an article saying that they weren’t even sure how effective the vaccine would even be.

So with all the information you’ve just provided why in the world would the government drop the mask mandates?

You just provided me a bunch of links that tells me they had ZERO clue how effective this vaccine would be and yet they told people to stop wearing masks?

Yet here we are blaming the unvaccinated for the spread of Delta and now even THAT has evidence contrary to that.

JFC, it wasn't ZERO clue. Can you drop the fvcking hyperbole??? They did tests on hundreds of thousands of people. It showed 90%+ efficacy. Then you roll it out to 100 million and the efficacy went down some. That's doesn't seem especially abnormal to me. Statistics and medicine are not exact math/science. Your bias is showing.

Pretty sure you’re impossible to satisfy.

Basically, whatever anyone said, today it works very well at preventing serious illness or death, which is important when 618K and millions worldwide have died already and lives have been put on hold. It’d be ridiculous to wait for x number of years for a full trial while that’s the alternative. If everyone got the vaccine, we wouldn’t need to worry about masks at all.

As JC would put it, JFC….I give up too

There’s no chance of you guys even recognizing the other side of the argument either.

Stalemate.

Just don’t force me to get the vaccine and we can all go about our lives peacefully

There go those wacky scientists shifting goalposts again ..

CNBC: CDC warns that delta variant is as contagious as chickenpox and may make people sicker than original Covid.

https://www.cnbc.com/2021/07/30/delta-c ... icker.html
Delta, now in at least 132 countries and already the dominant form of the disease in the United States, is more transmissible than the common cold, the 1918 Spanish flu, smallpox, Ebola, MERS and SARS, according to the document. Only measles appears to spread faster than the variant.

"The war has changed," officials of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention wrote.

You’re right….those wacky scientists again. I think you tried to argue against this last week actually….

[tweet]https://twitter.com/cnn/status/1421093265210806272?s=21[/tweet]

Well I’ll be darn….

(Sorry, have no clue how to embed tweets)

Here’s a quote from the article….
By having a situation where you vaccinate everybody, a vaccine-resistant mutant actually gains a selective advantage.
But then they say in the article that it’s best to move full speed ahead and get everyone vaccinated?

Am I the only one not understanding the logic here?

I am 100% fine with masking but even the tweet you linked says this doesn't go away until nearly everyone is vaccinated.
