Only way it makes sense is if vaxxed people are transmitting if not getting sick.
Arkansas is 36% fully vaccinated and the 7-day average cases are about 55% of the peak numbers.

Add to that a worse strain, less social distancing and mask wearing, with a majority unprotected.. none of this tells me that vaxxed are spreading the virus necessarily.

I think just keep telling people that they are stupid and borderline criminal for not getting vaccinated. That should get them to come around.
I bet not. But venting is therapeutic for me. I'm selfish that way.
Really, I wasn't even referring to this forum, as much influence over things that we like to think we have.

But if you watch tv, the main idea is that you are simply bad or dumb if you don't vax up.

I don’t get that sense from mainstream news outlets at all. They report on the Biden administration’s push to get people vaccinated, and the resistance they are facing. Maybe if you’re watching the more opinion-based shows on CNN or MSNBC, but I’m assuming you do not typically tune in.

I guess it depends on what mainstream is. I watch more MSNBC and CNN than anything else. I'm sure that isn't believable but it is true. Fox morning stuff sucks, Hannity and Carlson are pompous jerks, and Ingrahm is kinda annoying. Newsmax isn't available here but on the road I've watched maybe ten minutes and can't stand it, looks like some high schooler threw it together in A/V class. I like the whatever from 5-6 with Brett Bair because it isn't always picking a fight. I haven't watched a CBS, NBC or ABC newscast in probably 30 years, so I don't really know what they are up to. I think I like watching people that I disagree with 90% of the time. It stimulates what is left of my brain or something like that. When any of them get too painful, I just switch to Impractical Jokers, that's always on somewhere.

I do miss the days when actual news was on in the morning. Diane Sawyer would bring it back in the day. Now they are just feel good happy sappy crap.

I had a political science professor that used to encourage us to watch Crossfire on CNN. If he could see what kind of tv that created, he might change that endorsement. Everything has to be a fight or it isn't interesting I guess. Keenan was right about that.

Biden admin (and myself too) underestimated the pushback. When the vaccine rollout levels came out- it took off. A lot of people werel posting pictures of their shot cards. Stories of people trying to bypass the rollout order line. In MO, the rural areas got the vaccine rollout first, which didn't make sense, was intentional), while demand pent up in the urban areas.
There was a false sense of momentum. Seems like long ago already.

It's hard to understand the depth of the problem we have in the US with people's Trumpism, sense of entitlement, hatred of the left, and the forces that feed it. We just don't want to talk about it. (other than pissing into the wind here about it). No one wants to confront crazy Uncle Dave and Aunt Karen when they march in unvaxxed to first family gathering in a year and a half. Mainly because confronting them would do no good, they are too far gone.

BTW - the forum balked at having politics bleed over to this. Which is fine. But you really can't segregate the two anymore. A country like Australia has less than a thousand covid deaths - less than states like the Dakotas. It's a political sociological issue as much as science etc.

Is it bad that my 1st reaction was: Lollapalooza is happening? I wonder where. And who's on the bill...

This is how misleading our “trusted news sources” are being….

https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.nytime ... a.amp.html

Headline Title:

“Vaccinated People May Spread the Virus, Though Rarely, CDC reports”

First paragraph of the article:
In yet another unexpected and unwelcome twist in the nation’s pandemic, fully immunized people with so-called breakthrough infections of the Delta variant may spread the virus just as easily as the unvaccinated people….

This part seems relevant - “fully immunized people with so-called breakthrough infections”

All the more reason to get everyone vaccinated before the next even-worse variant is born.
