I watched the first season of The Expanse on Amazon, and I'm really struggling with it. It's a mystery box show, which I'm personally not a huge fan of and I don't think the central plot is particularly interesting. I'm also not super digging any of the characters. I know The Expanse has a lot of fans, but I don't think I'm going to bother with season 2. It just isn't for me.
I’d say stick through Season 2 if you can. To me the most interesting part is the Earth/Mars/Belter stuff and that gets better as it goes, and my conception of it after 5 seasons is not a mystery box show in the way that say Westworld is. Amos is probably the best main character, and there’s a couple supporting Belter characters that jump on in seasons 2 and 3 that became my favorites later. It’s not perfect and it does get slow at times. At its best it’s Game of Thrones in space with the various factions at odds or semi-reconciling with each other. Also helps if you like space scifi in general.
I'm through season 2 and I really like this show. It's extremely well written, and there's so many interesting story arcs for main and tertiary characters. The main character (Holden) is up and down IMO, but I find the socio-political, sci-fi, and character aspects all equally entertaining which is uncommon.
I didn’t even mention all the gravity related details which are really nice. They can’t feasibly keep it up 100% but they do enough to remind you where they are. The most reason season they seemed to pay even closer attention to it.

I've started watching The Boys on Amazon. I'm not really a huge super hero fan, but the show is really watchable. Like a lot super hero stories, the world doesn't always make sense, but the allegories are very present. I'm 5 episodes in and I'd give it a solid B/B+. I'm going to stick with it.

Also, I'm finding canceling Netflix was a great decision. Like GK, I'm doing way less endless scrolling and I'm more willing to give shows a chance. The Boys is a good example of that. It's not something I typically watch.

It's also nice saving money every month.

i also cancelled my netflix a few weeks ago and it ran out like 2 days ago. there was one thing i wanted to watch before it closed and that was this documentary on comedians experiences with psychedelics (as i have acquired some :) ). my initial intent was to drop netflix and pick up hbo but ive stalled on signing up for hbo even. i think hbo is like 2 dollars more and while i haven't even gone a cycle without a netflix payment i like the idea of not losing that 13..so then to go back to losing money each month, now 2 dollars more is just like "eh, do i even care?". hbo definitely has some programming im interested in but i think i need to get a bit more desperate in looking for content. whenever conan's new show starts may be the reason i actually sign up

The Boys didn't look good to me going in, but on some advice from co-workers I decided to watch and am glad I did. I like that while it is a show that features superheroes, it is certainly not a superhero show. More of a commentary on corporations, politics, and society.

There are several gross-out moments I didn't care for, other than that I'd put it at an A- / B+.

Not that it needs it, but I third 'The Boys'. Though, the first season was better in my opinion.
