The wife and I have been watching Pose, and we're mostly through Season 2 at this point (which is all that is available on Netflix). It's pretty eye-opening, and I really appreciate the fact that almost all of the cast are trans females or gay dudes (plus James Van Der Beek).

Vaguely along these lines, my son and I watched Kipo on Netflix. A kids cartoon that's quite good. There's a gay character and it sparked a very organic conversation that I was really grateful to have the opportunity for. He's at a stage where he gets the giggles with any love subplot, so this was great for him, I think (unless I totally blew it).

I am finally watching Bojack Horseman. It took about 5-6 episodes for it to hook me. But uh, yeah, as a dude of a certain age with certain issues, it kinda punches me right in the gut. An extremely Gen X show, IMO.

I finished all 6 seasons of Bojack. The writing on this show was incredible. I already started re-watching season 1, and I'm about 7 episodes in. There are bit characters and details in these first episodes that come back and play a role 4 or 5 seasons later. It is a show about a cast of characters that vary from Absolutely Wretched to Actually Good, and it's about the characters and their relationships growing, evolving and sometimes disintrgrating or struggling. It is a sad show, because the relationships and characters seem very realistic. There are so many characters and relationships that I guarantee at least some of them will resonate with you (especially since this board is mostly middle aged dudes). One of the things I liked best about it was how many of the non-romantic relationships had real depth and complexity, and also evolved over the course of the show. That's kind of unusual, IMO. Oh yeah and there are lots of laughs. Some of the humor in this show is similar to Seinfeld ("people behaving badly"). Much of it is like the Simpsons (mocking the world we live in). But the soap opera of all the characters and their various relationships...I have no clue what other show to compare that with. Not a soap opera because this one is acually realistic and believable. You'll laugh, you'll cry, you'll cringe.

This is a great description of the show. I finished it a few months ago, and I'm restarting it now. There are a few episodes I probably nodded off during, or was distracted while watching, and I'm looking forward to seeing them again while knowing the story arc I'm on.

I came into Bojack knowing it was a comedic cartoon about a horse who is sad. And that's true! And also woefully inadequate. I think this show is one of the more intense emotional experiences of any TV show I've seen. Particularly that episode near the very end of the final season, "The View From Halfway Down," is harrowing. Everyone: please watch this show. Thanks.
