Spit-balling here, but it looks like the owners have consistently said they will pay X amount of money. You can take 100% salary on 50 games, 75% salary on 75 games or 50% on 82 games. The total amount of money appears to be roughly the same. So, as much as they have offered different scenarios, they seem to be saying to the players that they can pick their format and run with it.

Jorge Castillo of the Los Angeles Times reports that MLB's proposal to the MLBPA includes a revision to the Operations Manual which would require players to sign an "acknowledgment of risk" waiver before playing.

Much like the newest offer from MLB regarding pay, this doesn't appear to be well-received by the players. In fact, Castillo hears that the players believe the goal of the "acknowledgement of risk" waiver is to undermine their ability to challenge MLB for possible unsafe working conditions amid the COVID-19 pandemic. The health side has always been a serious part of talks, but the assumption was that it would be easier to find common ground there than the subject of player salary. At this point, maybe nothing is going to come easy here.

That's what I'm getting too. It's the same proposal just being reworded.

According to Bob Nightengale of USA Today, MLB's latest proposal to the MLBPA includes the option for players to sit out the 2020 season.

Players who opt not to play due to medical risks related to COVID-19 will receive their pay and service time. Players who opt out but are not deemed high risk would receive neither salary nor service time. This is probably going to be part of any return-to-play agreement between the league and union, though determining the level of risk for each individual player who decides not to participate could get a bit tricky.

According to Ken Rosenthal and Evan Drellich of The Athletic, the MLBPA will reject MLB's latest return-to-play proposal.

The plan proposed by the league on Monday morning called for a 76-game regular season in which the players would get 75 percent of their prorated salaries. The union, meanwhile, continues to demand 100 percent prorated salary shares. Another (new) sticking point is that MLB wants all players to sign an “acknowledgment of risk” waiver that would absolve the league of responsibility should a player have complications related to COVID-19. The situation could change quickly, but for now it feels like the two parties have made very little progress toward a return-to-play agreement. One might even argue that they're moving backward.

The kids baseball season has started in Little Rock. We had to rearrange teams since a few participants dropped out due to it being in the summer and Covid.

That said, mlb can [expletive] off for letting po-dunk kids leagues figure this out before they could.
