Re: Coronavirus and the 2020 Season (Season Postponed, pg3)
I offered the Spring Training leagues as an option over a month ago on Viva el Birdos, so I'm taking credit. The risk to players and their families will still be quite high until they get a quick antibody test. However, it sounds like that antibody test might be ready within a week. If we get baseball, I nominate Dr. Fauci for the MVP even though he didn't develop the antibody test.

It will be weird that Dylan Carlson could play a whole season at the MLB level but not make his St. Louis debut until next year.
And I know that Chase Field is the Diamondbacks stadium but they shouldn't automatically get to play the majority of their games there. They should get to play no more games in the dome then any other team, they should have to play out in the Arizona heat as much as any other team. I would imagine with Chase Field you would be able to fit in at least 3 games a day if you start the games early enough.

Reminder to everyone....a tough division is better than no baseball.

At least we'd get to beat up on the Marlins.
Under that scenario we won't be playing the Cubs in the regular season, but there could be the possibility of a Cardinals vs. Cubs World Series.

i get that the teams are split up regionally, but all that does is ensure a yankees dodgers world series.

I guess the obvious question is why is that better than putting all teams in one geographic location (Arizona)? If their plan is to have a postseason of sorts, and they do it in AZ and FL, one location getting sick would lead to some odd [expletive].
Here's the thing, is there is no timeline they're on. I mean, opening day is long gone. There won't be an ASB. Rather or not they play a postseason starting September whatever is irrelevant. Just get on TV and do it in a manner that keeps everyone safe. AFAIK, splitting the teams two ways doubles the exposure of the league as a whole to have setbacks.
If it's due to lack of fields, just buy a couple acres somewhere, level the ground, and throw up some lights and a fence. This would take way less time than getting the players through spring training and quarantine.
I couldn't care less about cards/cubs or any other rivalry. Just get on TV as fast as possible. That should be their only goal. And by as fast as possible, I mean, as fast as possible safely.

I think that its to be able to use the domes in Miami, TB and Arizona instead of just Arizona. And if they have it in both the players can be in a more comfortable situation. Other wise they have to pack up their lockers after every single game/series.

I can't wait for real baseball. I miss it so much.
Hell, I'll even be rooting my ass off for Carpenter and Fowler. I don't care. I just want baseball.

GRB could really use baseball as well. Our traffic is down close to 60%.
