well we get to clear tarasenko's contract for the time being...and hall in NJ is a FA to be, and NJ looks to be very bad this year. hall obv won the hart trophy the year before last, but was hurt most of last year and is off to a slow start this year/his FA year...no idea what the price would be?

but yes, I see them sticking with what they have/see if something sticks on that top line for the time being.

Hall's "slow" start of almost a ppg on a bad team where he is the target of every team's defensive strategy? He'll cost a 1st, a top prospect, a mid level prospect, and maybe an additional 1st or a 2nd. That's just a guess based on what I would want for him if I was in NJ's shoes. He's only 27, so the team trading for him would get him in a prime year, with the first chance to resign him, and he's good enough that I think enough teams will see him as the "missing piece". Plus, at the deadline, he won't have much of his $6m cap hit left. Most teams would (iirc) be able to fit him under the cap at that point. Maybe they send a smaller contract that is ending back to NJ to make the numbers work.

Way too expensive unless we really think he's the missing piece and we know Tank is out until next year.

welp, then never mind...that's way too much for a rental only playing a few months here

I saw it speculated that 5 months is the minimum on his injury, and that it might be even longer. If I'm prudently planning, I'm going to bank on nothing more from him this season.

However, I also agree with the wait-and-see approach. Perhaps... maybe... in-house options can cover the loss. Maybe. Got to give them time to prove/disprove that theory, though.

I will say, unlike Mo and the cards...I completely trust Armstrong to do what needs to be done.

I'm way past doubting him with the deals/trades he keeps coming through with.

Hey, you never know. I'm just some dude on a message board. We did get ROR for a 1st, 2nd and a mid tier prospect, (and garbage contracts) and he had term left on his deal. Maybe Hall goes for a first, a mid tier prospect and a guy like Fabbri or Sanford. If that's the cost, then that's a difficult decision. Maybe they pay that, but then flip Petro for a similar haul, allocating Petro's money to an attempt to resign Hall...

Its worth a phone call at least, and I'm sure Armstrong will call. I just think that its early enough to see what you have and give the kids a chance. Its too early to make a desperation move. The Blues have depth. Lets see what it looks like. You're going to have to make some hard decisions at the Seattle draft. This may help in the discernment process.

EDIT: and I agree with mike. Plan for nothing from Tarasenko this year.

agreed. and kyrou returns this week to SA per Armstrong...so that's another piece we'll definitely see here shortly I'm sure, even if taransenko hadn't gotten hurt

One of my friends was telling me yesterday that he heard that Armstrong will be flying down to San Antonio Thursday and that he may pass one of the young prospects in the air on his way down so I'm thinking they may bring up somebody for Saturday's game.

These points are going to be crucial as the long winter months play out.
