Damn that was fun. And so damn stressful.

Re: Stanley Cup Finals 2019: Blues v. Bruins
After sleeping on it, man, the blues really did play well last night. Kind of worrisome because I'm not sure they can keep up that level of superior play, and last night it still took OT to get the win.
One thing that was nice to see was the physical domination. 50ish hits to 30ish hits. Krug had a target on him and Blais got in a pretty good lick. Speaking of Blais, lots of attention that Backes knocked him down, good to see Backes can still stand up and not fall down when someone gets near him now, but he lost the puck in the process. Not that it was a good look for Blais, but it was effective. Not something I'd be beating my chest about if I was a Bruins fan.

Oskar Sundqvist will have a hearing with the NHL Department of Player Safety on Thursday.
Sundqvist could be facing a suspension for boarding Boston's Matt Grzelcyk in Game 2 of the Stanley Cup Final. The Blues forward received a two-minute penalty on the play. Grzelcyk was injured on the hit and he was unable to return.

Losing Sundqvist would not be good. Any word on when / if Thomas expected back?

The big thing last night is the Blues showed that Boston is not infallible and that the Blues are capable of outplaying Boston. That should give the team more confidence throughout the series. Boston is good, but they're absolutely beatable.

Sunny getting suspended for that hit would be stupid yet not at all surprising since the NHL suspends results and not intent. I'm all for protecting players but that may have been the most awkward way I've ever seen a defenseman play a puck.

Dunno what the outcome will be. Cherry and The Hockey Guy both seem to think it wasn't dirty though.cardsfantx wrote:Oskar Sundqvist will have a hearing with the NHL Department of Player Safety on Thursday.

he shouldn't be suspended IMO; he was changing directions when hit.AWvsCBsteeeerike3 wrote:Dunno what the outcome will be. Cherry and The Hockey Guy both seem to think it wasn't dirty though.cardsfantx wrote:Oskar Sundqvist will have a hearing with the NHL Department of Player Safety on Thursday.

but the NHL takes injuries into consideration when possibly suspending. grzelcyk having to go to the hospital and already ruled out for game 3/not traveling with Boston to St Louis doesn't look good from their point of view I'd bet.
if I had to make a wager, sunny will be suspended for game 3; and that'd be big if Thomas still can't go.
sanford and fabbri in for thomas and sunny is a big drop off (of course Thomas was playing pretty banged up)

It will be grade A horse [expletive] if he is suspended, and Krug didn’t even get a penalty for his charging infraction in game 1.
