Yep to all of thisMrCrowesGarden wrote:You don’t make the trade until this offseason when Boston can get involved (and when you know who has the number one pick). Unless Philly offers you, like, Simmons, Fultz and the Heat pick.
No reason to trade for the Lakers mediocre assets.

No doubt. I do not hold Lonzo Ball in very high regard, or Brandon Ingram who I'm repeatedly told is going to break out but I just don't see it. Kuzma is the only non-LeBron player on that team that excites me. Maybe Zubac, I like Zubac. There is really no need for the Pels to deal Davis to the Lakers.MrCrowesGarden wrote:You don’t make the trade until this offseason when Boston can get involved (and when you know who has the number one pick). Boston can give picks but I don't know what else they can part with. Hayward's contract might be the worst one in the NBA. He's a bench player getting max money. Anything they move for Davis significantly depletes depth and Kyrie and Horford have player options for next season.

It would have to be EVERY Lakers so-so asset for me to think it's approaching an okay deal: Ball, Ingram, Kuzma, Zubac, Hart and picks. And I just don't see that.33anda3rd wrote:No doubt. I think you have to hold out hope for Tatum + picks and maybe settle for Brown, Rozier + picks if it came down to it. I'd assume you have to take Hayward or Horford to make salaries work.
Supposedly the Knicks are putting together an offer, and I really don't know what that would be. Gotta think 2 of Porzingis, Knox and their 1st rounder?

Who is the last top 5 player in the league to be traded? Probably Shaq in the summer of 2004 but he was like 7-8 years older than AD is now. And he brought Caron Butler, Lamar Odom, a first round pick and a second round pick. Odom was on the uptick and only 24, averaged close to a double-double the season before in Miami.

That's a really good question, and I don't know if I know the answer.
CP3 might be a consideration (obviously different circumstances there too.)

Carmelo Anthony, in 2011?
The Pelicans would be silly to take the Lakers heap of mediocrity in exchange for Anthony Davis........ even if they get the entire heap.
If I'm the Pelicans, I'd demand both Tatum and Brown from the Celtics. I mean, we're talking about arguably the best player in the NBA here. You've got to get stars in return, and not just one.

Jaylen Brown really doesn't get me going either, though. The best and worst thing I can say about him is that I think he's this generation's Jeff Green.
(The obvious answer here would be Klay + Draymond + picks for AD, but Klay is a soon to be free agent.)

Denver has far better assets than the Lakers, and they'd be instant title contenders with AD. It's not worth it if he's not willing to sign an extension, though.

Re: 2018-19 NBA Thread
It would be interesting if there's a team that just decides to say "screw it, we'll go for it this year with AD and just hope to recoup some of what we gave up this summer." There might be one.
