Let's play the Player A vs. Player B game:

Player A: 1.7 bWAR 396 ab 28 2b 23 hr .242/.299/.487/.786 114 OPS+ -.4 dWAR

Player B: 1.9 bWAR 458 ab 16 2b 19 hr .266/.352/.439/.791 116 OPS+ -.6 dWAR

I see very similar seasons. Player A has shown more power in less at-bats, Player B definitely has better on-base skills. Both have been below replacement level defensively.

Both can play any outfield position.

Both were traded by the Cardinals in the last 12 months, though one trade was much more controversial.

Guessed it yet?

Player B is Pham and Player A is former GRB whipping boy Randal Grichuk, whom no one is wants back.

btw, Harrison Bader has been very close to these guys offensively while being all-world in the outfield. I think it's fair the criticize the return for Pham, but I don't see what the Cardinals have lost by not having him on the roster. Especially when you admit that he would not have been happy in a part time role.

I saw that last night. That is impressive. It isn't even getting the weight up and down as much as it is the strength it takes to keep that long bar balanced enough to not come crashing down on one side while he does the one handed bench press.

it really is. he almost loses it when he transfers hand but he gets it. i'm happy for him. on his 1st homerun last night you can see him literally holding back his smile as he crosses 3rd base.

Stephen Piscotty delivered his 25th homer and his 40th double as part of a five-RBI night Wednesday in Oakland's 10-0 rout of the Angels.
It's been quite a turnaround for a player most everyone was rooting for. Piscotty had just five homers and 14 doubles through 67 games and 230 at-bats. He has 20 homers and 25 doubles in 75 games and 290 at-bats since.

The Cardinals are such a good organization that we're even generous with other teams. Nice to see Piscotty, Grichuk, Pham, and Voit (1.034 OPS!) having good seasons in their new homes.

The goal of every trade should be a win-win result. You can't constantly fleece other teams and expect them to keep dealing with you (unless your hall of fame former shortstop is running the front office of the trading partner.)

They're 5.5 games back of the 2nd wild card with 9 games to go, they're not in the playoff hunt.
