Re: Former Cardinals Watch
I am surprised by the last ten pages or so. I just assumed he would be rocking an Angels cap on his plaque. Surprised so many think otherwise.

I've got my terrific memories, and Albert's getting paid. I couldn't care less what hat he wears into the Hall.

Re: Former Cardinals Watch
Wasn't Tony La Russa a Diamondbacks employee when he went into the HOF? I mean, I know his HOF hat was blank but that was because the debate was whether he'd go in with an A's hat or Cards hat...It would have been hilarious if he'd gone in with a D-Backs hat. I almost wish it had happened, TBH.MrCrowesGarden wrote:He's going to 100% inducted on the first ballot, and will as such still be an Angels employee when he's inducted. That's going to matter.
I could see Albert going in with a blank hat but I just do not see it likely he will go in with an Angels hat. We are in a new era where advanced stats are going to matter more than they used to matter (which was: not at all). Counting stats and longevity will still be important, but people are going to look at those Cards vs Angels WAR numbers and it will be big a factor IMO. Not saying it's a lock but the odds are probably something like:
60% Cards
20% Angels
20% blank

You can plan the statues for Soulless Fangraphs Lane on the north end of Ballpark Village. Give me the biggest Yadier Molina statue they can build in front of Busch among the other legends. Maybe people who don't live here don't see how much Yadi actually means to St. Louis. His legacy is more than just the championships and numbers. He embodies the grit, passion, and loyalty of St. Louis so well. How he has conducted himself counts for quite a bit here.Big Amoco Sign wrote:Albert: generational talent and one of the greatest of all time. 11 years with Cardinalsjagtrader wrote:Molina's getting the statue.
Molina: decent catcher, great with pitchers, not the best at his position for half his career but still great: 16.5-17 years with Cardinals after he hangs 'em up. Top 15-20 catcher all time.
Albert's greatness in 11 years beats Molina's longevity. Sorry. And Molina's WAR is around McCann and Russell Martin. Statue worthy? I believe he's better than his WAR, no doubt, but how much better?
Darrell Porter has a higher fWAR than Molina FWIW (yes I know he wasn't a Cardinal forever). Musial also has a bridge. Give Albert a decent sized statue. At least he deserves one over by Smith/Dean/Buck/etc.

You hate Fangraphs. We get it.
Maybe go to the bowling hall of fame instead of the statues when you go. Knock some of that weird frustration you have on some pins.
(Yes I know the Bowling HOF moved)
