Nope, you get Amy Adams, but not a naked one.

Yes. And the True D comparisons really do fade after the first episode, other than the continuing sense of utter creepiness in a Southern town.

That said, I think while it's not True D it's really remarkable TV. The performances are awesome, the editing and cinematography too, the whole production lends Wind Gap the town this sticky humid feel through the TV that's rare to find in a show, and it has probably the best use of music this side of Silicon Valley on television.
Now granted, I'm only in episode 4 currently, but there are more similarities. The southern gothic/violence underlying the pious southern manners vibe. The flawed crime investigator trying to exercise his/her personal demons while chasing down an actual demon. Then, in episode 3:
[SHOW]
the "lady in white" myth in Sharp Objects - compare and contrast to the "king in yellow" myth in True Detective. Very similar plot device to invoke a legendary and possibly mythical murderer and possible apparition that is the subject of gothic folklore as a plot device.

"Mayans MC" starts tonight. I plan on giving it a shot. When SOA was good, it was real good. Hoping for some of that.

I was going to watch. But I wasn't really that excited about SunnyP coming back until I read that Mindy Kaling is in the premier. I couldn't think of a more interesting guest star for that show.

I started Flight of the Conchords. It's perfect for me and I'm a goober for waiting ten years to watch it.

BCS is probably the best slow show ever. If you compare it to Breaking Bad, we'd already be in the middle of season 4 - with a lot more going down everywhere. I kinda feel like BCS is more binge material though just because it helps alleviate some of its lethargic tendencies. It's not so much the surrounding arcs, but the stuff centered on Saul is more like... Better Call Snail.
