This is a tough one. I like Garbrandt more even though he's a douche. I just always thought Dillashaw has a cheesy try hard personality that turns me off as a fan.
I love this rivalry because it's genuine, and not something they try to create to sell the fight, but even beyond the personal stuff, they're both just insanely great martial artists. This is combat sports at it's absolute highest level. Elite athletes with elite skill sets in the prime of their career.
Because of that it's almost impossible to pick. That first fight showcases it perfectly. If Cody has an extra 10 seconds in round 1, he gets a first round KO. Instead, TJ rallies and stuffs him in the the second.
I think Cody's speed and counter punching can trump TJ's versatility and wrestling if he keeps his cool. I think he will coming off that loss.
Cody round 2 KO. If they fight 10 times they could easily go 5-5 and I would give them my money every time.

Re: MMA Thread II
I don’t know how Cody can look so impressive against Cruz but so amateurish against TJ. He was really pressing and not looking like the good boxer he is. Loading up his punches, leaving his hands down. Just made TJ’s job really easy. He’s chinny too. Doesn’t seem to recover from damage.
Demetrious Johnson could probably cut to 115 if needed. Cejudo looks like a 135er and manhandled him. Didn’t do much after manhandling, but still more than DJ.

I have zero interest in a Cejudo-Dillashaw fight. I'd love to see Dillashaw vs a healthy Cruz. Garbrandt is really proving all of TJ's points - he's stagnated as a fighter, he's really predictable, and that's all of the things TJ said he left Alpha Male to fix.MAGA wrote:I don’t know how Cody can look so impressive against Cruz but so amateurish against TJ. Arguably the greatest fighter of all time lost last night and no one mentions it.
You can debate if Demetrious Johnson is the greatest ever, but there's no question he's the most underrated.

It's been a long time since DJ had to fight with a sense of urgency, and I don't think it ever kicked in during the fight. He'll either find the drive, get a rematch and lay waste to Cejudo, or he'll retire.

Every time he throws a right hand, he drops his left. He’s looking to throw a left hook. He’s fast. He throws a big right, left hand. But he drops it to his pocket. So were planning on timing it.

Seeing this, I don't know if I should call Cody chinny. He took 3 humongous shots before getting dropped. Just technically unsound and dumb here.

I listen to the Anik & Florian podcast and they were talking about this. Mentioned his 33 amateur boxing matches and high school middle linebacker hits. He's taken some damage.MAGA wrote:Seeing this, I don't know if I should call Cody chinny. He took 3 humongous shots before getting dropped. Just technically unsound and dumb here.

UFC [expletive] up in trying to go legit with USADA. Everyone is still juicing and corruption is the only thing keeping their cash cows on the fight calendar. USADA and Reebok are looking like foolish moves.
Should've gone PRIDE and let the fighters do their thing or some BS anti-doping program like the NFL and NBA have.
