I just hope Stock stays calm under pressure.

it was a minor league deal with incentivesFamous Mortimer wrote:I think it's pretty obvious Colby Rasmus has no particular love for baseball, and neither should he - not a lot of us love our jobs, he just happened to be really good at something which paid him a lot of money.
What I don't understand is why the Orioles bothered hiring Rasmus this offseason. He'd already walked away from baseball once, and must have been a risk to do the same thing again. There's also all the clubhouse risks that come from having someone with his personality / family issues in the clubhouse (unless that's all been dealt with by now?) Did he call someone he knew in the Orioles' front office and make a really really compelling case, or were the team just trying to get by filling a roster spot with a well-known-ish name that they wouldn't have to pay much for?
Mark Reynolds was a one-man wrecking crew Saturday, going 5-for-5 with two homers, three runs scored and a whopping 10 RBI as the Nationals thumped the Marlins 18-4.
Well, that'll play. Reynolds couldn't buy a job a few months ago, but now he's mashing in a good Nationals lineup, with Saturday being the latest (and best) performance yet. It came less than 24 hours after he hit a game-winning, pinch-hit homer in Friday's contest. Saturday's mammoth game gives him 10 homers, 24 RBI and 18 runs scored through 37 games, and the 34-year-old is hitting .292/.358/.594 overall. Like a bad penny, Reynolds continues to show up in fantasy-relevant spots, and likewise he's now worth owning in deeper mixed leagues while he's contributing like this.

I think it was just an upside kind of move. They were going to suck, no matter if he caused clubhouse issues or sucked. So maybe he sucks and brings you closer to that number one pick, or maybe you find a diamond in the rough, get him the help he needs and he fills a spot for you cheaply and decently.Famous Mortimer wrote:I think it's pretty obvious Colby Rasmus has no particular love for baseball, and neither should he - not a lot of us love our jobs, he just happened to be really good at something which paid him a lot of money.
