Growing up in southern Illinois they were commonplace...but not so much here in Ohio. I have lived in two different houses here and neither had storm doors. Can't say as I miss them.

Yeah, they're everywhere in Chicago. It makes sense given the weather here. My back door doesn't have one and I think I need to get one.

Now that I've filled a dumpster with glued down carpet and drop ceiling, I'm going to buy the only gun I'll ever own tomorrow to frame out a floor in my basement. A .22 gauge powder actuated concrete nailer. It's made by Remington and has shells and everything. I'm so excited.

Does it have a trigger? I remember using something like that to frame out a basement but you had to hit the pin with a hammer. It was definitely a lot of fun.

yep, same thing but it has a trigger and it's a little more expensive. There's also a semi-auto .27 cal version which is 3x the price and seems like it's even more fun and dangerous and totally unnecessary.



I don't think Remington makes this one actually.

I've had one for about 14 months and I really like it. After a couple of weeks it knows where you like the temperature at what time of day, which is nice if you like it at one temperature during the day, and cooler for sleeping. It can also detect if you're gone and go to a higher/lower range of temperatures instead of maintaining your chosen temp. This is nice because unlike an older thermostat with static schedules, you don't have to change it if you're home on a day you're usually away, like Memorial Day for instance. It's certainly saved us money on our heating/cooling bills, but I couldn't really tell you an amount or a percentage.

We were also able to hook our humidifier to it, which runs the furnace fan to circulate moisture and keep the house from getting so dry in the winter.
