Heyward has serious vision problems I guess.

Tigers purchased the contract of INF Pete Kozma from Triple-A Toledo.
He'll give them a solid backup infield glove at multiple positions. Kozma has hit just .195/.256/.293 this season at Toledo and .215/.282/.285 in his career in the majors.

Saying this based on his bad hitting? Ironic since his tracking fly balls is unaffected?Big Amoco Sign wrote:Heyward has serious vision problems I guess.

I thought this might refer to the missed catch on Wong's triple, which Heyward lost track of as he slid down to get a better angle on the drive.lukethedrifter wrote:Saying this based on his bad hitting? Has Marco Gonzales figured something out? I'm not sure whether I expect his ERA to regress towards his peripherals or to expect his strikeouts to decrease. He hasn't really changed his swinging strike rate so I'm pretty skeptical so far.

I think he has shown legitimate improvement but his inability to work deep into games effectively seems like it is a feature rather than a bug. He's young and he'll certainly get his chances, and the FIP is surprisingly good but I'm not sold.

Matt Adams has 10 HRs this year, with 7 this month.

He was always a masher. May be a better player than Carpenter at this point in his career.Spider John wrote:Matt Adams has 10 HRs this year, with 7 this month.
But that 14% walk rate isn't going to last.
If it stays up though, hey maybe he will finally be a 2 WAR player. Just have him only face righties.

Did the Mariners "give up" Tyler O'Neill because they knew they could get the best out of Marco Gonzales?

I think they thought they could get more out of Gonzales and were skeptical that O'Neill would ever make enough contact at the major league level to take full advantage of his 80-grade power.

I'm glad Marco is doing well. If the Cardinals constantly fleece their trading partners they'll have only the Marlins left to make deals with.
