in dallas, dallas? or just the DFW area in general? (not like it matters that much...dallas and ft worth are only about 30-45 minutes apart)

Lived in Dallas (uptown) for a couple years when the wife and i were engaged.

Live in Ft Worth currently since we've been married/had kids.

Not sure of your situation, but single life IMO is better in Dallas, but i much prefer Ft Worth now that i'm married/have kids. Just more room, seem to get a bigger house/land if you prefer for cheaper...more elbow room.

You're screwed if you have kids/either root for the local college and want to go there (TCU for Ft Worth, SMU for Dallas)...both private and ridiculously expensive.

weather is great, play golf year round pretty much. there's always a week or 2 where it may ice/cold, but it passes fast and is 70 the next week.

Downtown areas are both nice, particularly Ft Worth IMO...i've never lived in a huge city where i can walk around and feel perfectly safe. Tons of bars, restaurants, hotels, movie theaters, live plays, orchestra, etc (look up 4 day wknd if your in ft worth. great/funny live show) https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Downtown_Fort_Worth

you ob have the sports teams...

Rangers (they're in arlington right off hwy 30, next to six flags and the cowboys stadium)

Cowboys (they're in arlington right off hwy 30, next to six flags and the rangers stadium)

Mavericks and Stars (the're in dallas, basically uptown...we lived a few blocks from them in a condo when we lived in uptown)

Lonestar park horse racing is a great time

no legal gamling in texas (exception horse racing), so the closest casino is about 45 minutes north/first exit across into oklahoma. Winstar World Casino..it's the largest casino in the US and 2nd largest in the entire world...it's crazy how big it is. lots of big time music acts/comedians play there. bad part is you have to pay for drinks and there's a tax thing per hand that you have to pay to the casino.....every freaking hand.

if you're looking for things to do/recommendations for areas to live, just give me a shout

I buy enough big gulps from 7/11 that I decided to download their app for their "7th cup is free" promotion. Busting out that app at a 7/11 checkout counter isn't going to make my lifetime highlight reel. It was depressing, really. I literally thought to myself "so it has come to this" while it was happening.

I've purposefully avoided the quiktrip app to never have to confront that depressing reality. I assume when I hit 500 Big Qs in a year it unlocks permanent fail horns.

My office is in Frisco, so DFW north.

I used to have a 25-40 minutes commute in Phoenix, but have had a 5 minute commute the last two years in Sarasota. I'm not looking forward to another long haul.

that area has built up quite a bit over the last few years, so traffic can be bad, particularly if you want to live in dallas.

if you want some land, flower mound is nice.

and denton may be a good bet for value/commute time.

and not to mention, frisco is damn close to nebraska furniture mart!...if you have about 3 free days, you MAY be able to walk through all of it...there's a top golf, in n out, and culvers burgers close to frisco as well

I’ve lived in Dallas and Houston. Loved Big D, Houston not so much.
Couple questions:
1) Where haven't you lived?
2) What did you love about it?
1) I'm only on my 7th state now. My top 3 states of residence are 1) Colorado ~21 yrs, 2) Missouri ~20 yrs and 3) Texas ~19 yrs. Throw in a couple in upstate NY & Wisco, a year in Alabama as a kid and now NH and there you have it.
2) I loved going to college there but that was a long long time ago - it's a totally different place now. Greenville Ave was where you listened to two drunk guys in a dive bar sing Rocky Raccoon over greasy tamales and Pearl Beer. Based on a quick google, it looks just a tad bit more upscale these days.

Selling our old house in Huntsville AL. Had it on the market for several months in late 2014. Nuthin'.

Put it back on the market Sunday after the "Coming Soon" treatment last week. We had 3 offers Sunday night and today we accepted a cash offer that will close next Wednesday. I'm in shock.

This is a rave BTW.
