What do you think of youtubetv? And, really, what is it and what is on there?

I don't think I saw that Treehouse of Horrors. Huh. Everything learned in the first season really helps pick up so much of the small stuff in season too thanks to all of the details we learned about the characters in the first season. For some reason the part where Jason was the first one to figure out they were really in the bad place just popped into my head. That was one I didn't see coming.heyzeus wrote:I'm not all the way through season 2 yet but I'm enjoying it a ton. Season 1 invested you in the characters - it spent most of its team introducing you to everyone and learning about their past lives and personalities. Season 2 is like a study in rebooting the universe multiple times in myriad different ways to see what happens. It reminds me of that Simpsons Treehouse of Horrors episode where Homer accidentally invents a time traveling toaster, and every time they do anything in the past, it changes the future in unexpected ways. The Good Place Season 2 toys with the humans by creating different realities this way, and it's fun.tlombard wrote:Does anybody here watch The Good Place? I watched the entire first season but haven't been keeping up with the second so I went ahead and signed up for the free week of YouTube TV this afternoon so I can catch up on the shows that I've missed recently.
I thought the first season was really good but I'm listening to the first episode of the second season while I finish up my work and I really like how early in this first episode they are torturing the four, especially Chidi where they let him meet who he wants his soulmate to be and then rip her away and pair her with somebody else. The move putting Tahani in a tiny house was also great thanks to what was learned about each character in the first season.

I haven't really done anything other than binge watch The Good Place and catch up with The Orville on it so far but it's basically a version of SlingTV and those. It seems to have all of the shows that I like to watch and they also have live TV including FSMW and all for $35/month. YouTubeTV also has cloud DVR and obviously shows/movies on demand. I really should spend more time checking it out tonight and tomorrow since I have until Friday to cancel or else I'm on the hook for at least one month at $35. Although once you pay for your first month, they do send you a Chromecast so even though I don't need a Chromecast, if I don't cancel today or tomorrow I'll get that.AWvsCBsteeeerike3 wrote:What do you think of youtubetv? I just went back to YouTube TV in my browser here at work and it has picked up a TON of shows for me on the DVR. I had forgotten that I'd gone through and selected a bunch of shows that I like and set them all to record. I do also like that it tracks the episodes that I've actually watched through the service so that I don't waste 30 seconds starting one that I've already seen because I forgot the episode name.

Oh, one plus with YouTube TV is that even though there are ads on the DVR stuff, you can actually skip them after the first five seconds. I always fast forwarded through commercials when I had Charter but I actually kind of prefer the 'skip after five' method because I don't accidentally go five minutes past where I should have stopped and then have to rewind to get it right because I was in a hurry and set the fast forward to warp speed.

I wish there were more shows I could watch with my kid around. One problem with peak/non-broadcast tv. Someone needs to take on the challenge of telling great stories for adults without f words and bloody guts or sex stuff. I go weeks without saying [expletive]. How come it's impossible to script a show without it? (Because my life is super fascinating, see.)

The Good Place is pretty clean. The adult humor is of the more clever variety.BottenFieldofDreams wrote:I wish there were more shows I could watch with my kid around. I mostly just watch Forged In Fire constantly these days. Very clean.

Blacklist episode last week used Disturb's cover of Sound of Silence in lieu of dialogue during a charge to the hospital...nice use of the song.
