I haven't ripped through it by any means, but I watched the first episode today and liked it.

The Good Place is great. It's like Lost if it was ever the least bit gratifying.

Ted Danson is so good. The one problem I have with the big twist at the end of season one, is that I never got tired of his ruminations on experiencing humanity, which doesn't seem to happen anymore.

What I love about the ending to S1 is it made everything satisfyingly logical. Typically these types of shows begin to falter under the weight of their concept and everything becomes an inconsistent mess. Sometimes certain shows are so good you're willing to overlook some of their inconsistencies, but it typically nags at my brain. The last few episodes of S1 The Good Place was descending in to a weird world that made no sense to me, but the ending brought everything together nicely. The fact I didn't see it coming (although I should have) made the ending all the sweeter.

I agree 100%. That's why a took a jab at Lost, which you described perfectly in your second sentence.

My problem is that I loved the relationship dynamics of season one--especially with Michael. And stuff like his fascination with suspenders. And so far that hasn't recovered, IMO. (I'm three episodes into the new season.) But it's great. It will be cool to see if they can keep turning magic tricks.

I did not.
I had a few email exchanges with him about Eckstein. I wonder if I can dig those up.

You guys have convinced me to give the show another look. I think I lasted about an episode and a half
