If you don't think any other team would claim him; or don't care if another team does claim him; then there is no reason to add him until you are ready to put him on the Major League roster. I would guess that the original comments from Girsch about adding him means he doesn't want to lose him and thinks he will fit in on the Major League roster sometime in the foreseeable future. I think that is...unlikely.

I'd say signing Hickey just got much tougher. Considering his prior relationship with Maddon it would seem the Cubs would be his prefered destination.

Yep, just put that in the Cubs thread...Hickey is the guy who fits most to what we need, and now the cubs have to be the favorites due to he/Maddon’s prior relationship...
