Rave: I'm gonna grab a beer or lunch w/ Vinsanity this weekend. Real life besties, yo!

If you happen to be around town there in Austin and see a couple wearing Cardinals gear (well, on a Cards game day) and ordering Jager Bombs every five minutes, their names are Chris and Brandy. They moved to Austin from St. Louis in February. They're a lot of fun. Our annual tailgate for the home opener fell apart without them this year.

Update, Vinsanity and I had coffee this morning. Turns out we really were catfishing eachother this whole time. I am actually an 18 year old girl (not hot, sorry), and he is a 45 year old account manager who enjoys civil war re-enactment* and is utterly indifferent to baseball.


*he always performs as a confederate infantryman. Hmmmm.

When did 90% of Women and 80% of men decide Vocal Fry is the preferred way to talk. I can barely...I mean my wife can barely watch the Bachelor any more...

Women catch a lot of heat for vocal fry, but it's a genderless trait. I had to do a voiceover thing for a presentation at work and caught myself getting a little fried. There's a dude on The Ringer FC soccer podcast who has THE worst vocal fry of anyone I've ever heard and it does bug me.

I used to call it lazy voice until I heard the term vocal fry. I can do it sometimes when I am really tired and want to give the least effort possible. I hear it out of my own mouth and want to dick punch myself.

So that's what that's called. The woman who sits behind me at work talks like this, but it becomes way more pronounced at the end of the sentence, like she's running out of air.
