It feels really weird when you pack your bag with the stuff you need to hang in the park after work (change of clothes, etc.) and realize that you are only taking one tennis shoe with you.
Then when I got to work I went to grab the laptop out of my bag and for a moment I freaked out because I only had one shoe. It took me a few seconds to remember that I only needed one because the other foot is in a walking boot.

They will no longer be teaching evolution in Turkey. Apparently the idea of evolution is "archaic" and "lacks evidence" yet somehow a magic man in the sky creating everything out of nothing is not archaic and is backed up by evidence.
Riiiiiight.

I've never really understood why creationism and evolution are considered to be mutually exclusive. The origin or both of those things are pretty much impossible to prove, and evolution itself is not really inconsistent with Christianity.

I've tossed debated a similar line of thought before. I don't believe in Creationism but at the same time, maybe evolution was actually God's process so to speak.
To me (and I'm by no means a theological scholar having not been to church for anything other than weddings and funerals since third grade), the fact that dinosaurs were clearly on the planet before man means that Creationists have to reconcile that with their idea that God created Earth and man over the course of a week or whatever. If they can't or won't do that then I'm not accepting their 'truths' about the origins of man.

It depends on what your definition of 'week' is. A week for a being that is around before creation is probably a pretty darned long time.tlombard wrote:I've tossed debated a similar line of thought before. Re: Random musings
Something I just thought of....yeah, dinosaurs went extinct when a comet hit the earth and disturbed the ecosystem, but why did they never make a comeback? Obviously, alligators survived along with a bunch of acquatic life. But, at some point, creatures evolved to be T-Rex's and triceritopses and what not. I wonder why that process never came close to replicating itself. I guess 65M years isn't a very long time when talking about that type of thing. Still, it would be cool to see them at least trying to come back but from what I've read, there's really no evidence of it anywhere.tlombard wrote:I've tossed debated a similar line of thought before. Re: Random musings
I've seen Jurassic Park. No thanks!!! I'm happy living in a dinosaur free world.
It's mainly the big flying predators that I don't want around. We'd have to have surface to air batteries on every roof tops to keep them from flying off with all of our pets and children. They would be much harder to keep safe from than a T-Rex I think.
