Talk about your slow builds - they could have pulled the trigger on him going Full Saul at any number of points- the billboard, Davis and Main fiasco etc
I've enjoyed a lot of the Jimmy/Chuck stuff but it's wearing a bit thin on me, and the above is so true. The courtroom showdown was disappointing.

I still don't get where they can go with this. The Gus/Mike stuff carries 75% of the dramatic tension, and none of it will ever see resolution on this show. I'll be disappointed if we don't get a good season or at least a half season that picks up after the Cinnabon.

I really liked the courtroom stuff. It worked for me. The levels of the con that Jimmy had to anticipate Chuck would expect in order to break through Chuck's composure to make him break the facade that he's a good brother/person to Jimmy and reveal his true hatred and jealousy was both compelling and very sad. Michael McKean was great.

I thought the whole episode was very well crafted and enjoyable. Who doesn't love a good brother v. brother sadness throwdown? They're the original Cain and Abel!

Huell dropped some serious lbs which actually helped him fit into the younger timeline, unlike every other holdover from BB.

It still bothers me a bit that the big Chuck/Jimmy payoff was at the end of Season 1 when we found out that it was really Chuck holding Jimmy back all along. That was an amazing scene, and what was originally supposed to be the catalyst for Jimmy turning into Saul. The end of the season had Jimmy telling Mike that he was not going to play by the rules anymore as he rode off playing Bad to the Bone.

But then Vince decided he liked the Jimmy character more than Saul, and so at the beginning of season 2 Jimmy all of a sudden changes his mind, somehow gets over what his brother did and decides to join a real law firm and play by the rules. Thus this dragged out the brotherly rivalry and weird electro-magnetic disease story line for another season and a half at least. It also kind of takes away from the big reveal at the end of season 1.

It was nice to finally see Jimmy in an actual courtroom. For a show about a lawyer, we have not seen him in a courtroom since like the first episode. I know that shouldn't be the whole show, but Jimmy/Saul in a courtroom is pretty entertaining. Hopefully we are just about ready to get past the Jimmy/Chuck story line.

Yea, that's it - I also thought the Bad to the Bone signoff meant Saul Goodman was on the way. I've enjoyed the heck out of this all, but have a mild concern that the extension of the Jimmy/Chuck storyline will cause the Saul and post-BB stuff to be cut short. How many more seasons are there? If they lose some key characters like Mike to contract or something else in the future and have to weasel them AWOL from the storyline - that wouldn't be cool.

I loved the hell out of Louie, and sadly it seems that it's probably never coming back.

Good news though.

Master of None is different in many ways, but it is the spiritual successor to Louie. It has a very similar aesthetic and subject matter. Season 2 is spectacular (not that season one wasn't).
