That 5 on 3 in the 2nd was abusrd. Nashville won every face off it seemed and then just switched sides and took slappers.

If that's their strategy on a 5 on 3, then fine.

Granted when it was 5 on 4 they scored off a rebound from a slapper. And scored in the 1st on a re-direction of a slapper. And scored a different time in the 2nd on a slapper.

Horseshoes and hand grenades.

No, I mean he missed an easy one. Simply whiffed on it.
He should've gloved it and froze the puck instead of trying to poke check it....but it's a split second decision.

Nothing in that game made me think the Blues can't beat the Preds. It's gonna be a hard fought series, but in no way do I think the Preds are the better team.
Agreed. Good game for the most part, minus the penalties.

I still hate that "broken stick= automatic slashing penalty." Brodziak barely touched it.

Yeah, anyone w/ a clue knew that the power plays Nashville had where Josi was just setting pass after pass up on a tee for Subban to take massive one time slap shots was going to net them a goal at some point.

Penalties are going to happen, but geez Blues....you can't expect to be shorthanded for pretty much 6 minutes straight and not expect to come out in some type of hole.

Once again, they had a chance to steal a game that they really shouldn't have won....but the hockey gods weren't on their side last night.

Still, it was one hell of an exciting game and if they're all like that (and hopefully the Blues come out on top), it'll be a fun series to watch. But it's looking like it's gonna be another one of those series that can zap the energy out of whichever team makes it to the WCF.

edit: Oh, and the face offs......PULL YOUR F'ING HEAD OUT BLUES, you're gonna have a hard time winning series when you only win 40% of the faceoffs

That penalty call sent me through the roof. I've seen some bullsnit calls through the years, and that was easily one of the worst. His stick broke because he got it wedged between two Blues players. No one slashed him. The refs really [expletive] us that time.

Yeah, there's not much discretion being used by the refs on calls like that. If a players stick makes contact w/ the opposing players and it happens to snap (even if it's obvious the force wasn't great enough to snap it), they call a slash....it's BS.

It's pretty easy to tell if/when a sticks integrity has been compromised by how easy it breaks, but you gotta think the refs are focusing on so many other things that if they see a stick break from contact w/ an opponents stick, it's getting called. Not to mention they players act as though the other guy tomahawk chopped his @ss.

Yeah, the slashing was BS, especially to give a 5-on-3 out of it. I thought the Tripping call before that was a bit ticky-tack as well, but didn't see a good replay on it. Seemed like Parayko was poke checking and the skate blade caught on his stick blade. That's usually not a trip.

The trip was at least something that could be defended in an argument, if it was Parayko being the one going down I would've probably called for a trip too!

But enough of the bs "if the players stick snaps when being touched by another stick" it must be a slash.

Steen didn't skate today. Barbashev in his place. Doesn't mean he won't play tonight. Please no more face offs for Steen though.

They just said on the radio it was Barbashev in place of Magnus P. (I don't feel like butchering the spelling)
