I've never understood the signing of the National Anthem at sporting events. It's not like deaf people don't know the words. They know what's being sung.

I think somebody should Tweet cellphone video of Jesus being resurrected in Trumps direction just to see how long it takes him to reTweet it as proof that the Bible is the absolute truth.
I and about 20 others nearly got mowed down by an inattentive (using smartphone) and possibly inebriated driver last night. We were doing a demonstration and had a traffic lane blocked with cones and the participants in the street listening as a firefighter was showing/explaining the drivers side of the hook and ladder.
Never a great idea to put people in the street but it was for a short time, we had the lane blocked, and I was keeping an eye on traffic plus the really big red truck with the ladder on top. Olive is a really wide street at that point and without a whole lot of traffic at 730 none of which was having a problem detouring around us.
All was well until this small pickup was headed towards us and got a feeling that he wasn't paying attention, then about 2/10 of a second later I decided he wasn't slowing nor moving to his left to go around and yelled really loudly and thankfully caught his attention and scared the crap out of him and he veered away. I don't think the participants had any idea how close we were to getting maimed or killed.
I won't do that again without completely blocking the street with a police car.
I don't think we know the extent of accidents being caused by cell phone use while driving. It has got to be bad. A few years ago a kid ran right into my car parked in front. She came off a stop sign and the street widens substantially there, so there really was only one explanation for hitting the car. She was texting. But denied it.
On a positive, we had an insurance covered rental car for 3 months which I put 4000 miles on.
I was driving home the other night, I usually put the cruise control at about 68 - I can actually see the gas I am saving by driving 68 as opposed to 74. Anyway, I was in the far right lane, and I see this BMW come flying up behind me, i was sure she was going to hit me, when she suddenly locked up the breaks, almost went off the road, but somehow got it under control. I am on a 3 lane highway with nobody else around. She then gets in the middle lane to pass me, I look over and she is still looking at her phone and not the road, she was drifting all over the road as she sped away.
I see about 5 to 10 drivers every day looking at their phones. Scary.

I'd like to post a photo of how lit up the street was with emergency lights just to drive home the point.
Some of the guys thought he was drunk or high in addition to his smart phone activity. I have no idea because THE COPS THAT WERE HOSTING THE EVENT RIGHT IN FRONT OF POLICE HEADQUARTERS DIDNT BOTHER TO ASK THE GUY TO PULL OVER AFTER NEARLY MOWING DOWN 20+ PEOPLE AT 30 MPH.
