Re: Random musings
There are a couple of books that I've been unable to find ebooks for that I've wanted to read again or for the first time so I finally found that two of them are currently available at the library branch right around the corner from my apartment. I couldn't decide whether I wanted to work from home or go into the office today so this morning I figured I'd work from home for the first hour and then wander over to the library to check out the books and then either go back home or into the office. I still haven't left the library. Since I had my stuff with me and didn't feel like being in my apartment or dealing with the office... I've just been working from here. I kind of like it.
While waiting for things to run I've been finding all kinds of stuff I want to read. I've learned that there is an app that you can put on a tablet and basically get free digital subscriptions to a ton of magazines so I did that. I'm going to browse the DVD section next. I also remembered about Hoopla and downloaded a few movies (you get 10 a month) to my tablet to watch at some point. Apparently you can get access to AllData from the computers in the library if you should ever need more information for DIY car repairs. Why haven't I spent more time here??? And I did actually check out one of the books I was wanting as well.
Bonus... story time for kids. Even though the weather stinks today there were still a hot mom or two in yoga pants. There are at least three other people who appear to be working from the library just like me which is kind of funny. I thought I'd be the only idiot. Just a shame that they don't open until noon tomorrow. I'll end up going into the office most likely. I worked from home Friday and didn't do anything this weekend. I'm sick of my apartment!!!

Why my gf is the best a short story. Friday is usually a day off for her so we got up and I asked what her plan was. She said she was heading to the food pantry to help out for a few hours then she thought she'd bring me some lunch.
How can you not love someone whose day off plans are do good things for others and bring me lunch?

The girl from True Grit who seemed like she would have a promising acting career instead chose to be a generic pop artist.

Both of my parents are getting hard of hearing as they age. If you go to their house it's like dualing TVs to see who can turn it up the loudest. Then if you say something they are like "WHAT? I'm NOT GOING TO BE A REF."

My mom (like all good fake-nice Midwesterners) is nice to people's faces but makes mean comments under her breath or when they are out of earshot. The last few years before my stepdad passed, she got used to being able to say whatever and if she wasn't in the same room and speaking loudly and directly to him he wouldn't hear it. The problem is she started doing that around other people too. I had to pull her aside and explain that the rest of the world isn't going deaf just because he is. A guy I work with is the same way. He can't understand why certain people don't like him. Maybe because they hear the [expletive] you say about them when they're like 20 feet away?IMADreamer wrote:Both of my parents are getting hard of hearing as they age. Pete Kozma still has a job in baseball. How is that possible? The first thing I noticed in the article about how Holliday hopes Molina can finish his career in St. Louis is that in the picture Holliday was high fiving Pete Kozma. I was so shocked that I almost couldn't finish reading the article and started wondering if it was all a joke.

Picked up the second nail in my tire from the never ending construction between my house and office. Lovely start to the morning.

here's an interactive map of noise in the US. Rule of thumb, it's noisy by airports and interstates.

I swear I type something f like this every time I drink one too many bud diesel's and it's near opening pitch, but if I see one more blue cap, with a red C on the front, with the bill looking like it's been ironed and starched straight, worn by some 20 year old that thinks the good ol' days are Rizzo and Bryant and Baez and Lester and Arrieta and funny old Joe Maddon keeping it funky with a magician or a mime or a shepherd in the lockerroom, who thinks the Chicago f'in Cubs are the big swinging dicks in the national league.... if I see one more of those pricks I'm gonna go straight to him and punch the prick straight in the nose
