Definitely, although I don't think the Blues would get near that for him. A team giving up their 1st round pick and a cheap young player for a rental that's going to require big bucks to re-sign.MrCrowesGarden wrote:I know the current level of play isn't sustainable. At the same time, you couldn't have a more dominant road trip if you tried. We're out of wild card territory now.cardinalkarp wrote:I don't expect much of a playoff run, so I won't be nearly as disappointed if they have an early exit in the playoffs. Hell, I'm not convinced they are going to continue to play at the level they're at right now. Granted, they do look like a different team w/ Yeo behind the bench.MrCrowesGarden wrote:The Blues just went 5-0 on a road trip where they outscored the opposition 16-3. All that said, if someone offers a 1st and a young roster player or good prospect for Shattenkirk, I'm still doing it.
I'm just not sure if the ownership wants to trade off one of the top scoring defensemen in the league during a playoff push.....it will definitely piss off the rest of the team (if they don't get something to replace his productivity), and I don't think a lot of fans (at least not ones that don't follow the team very closely) will be real happy either if the Blues trade away the likes of Shattenkirk at the deadline w/o getting a name they recognize in return (which won't happen because they have no cap room to take on salary next year, and why trade Shattenkirk just to get a rental player in return).
It's a tough situation, because I really don't think they'll stand up to the big boys in the NHL this season come Stanley Cup playoff time.
