It's do-or-die time if I wanna be in shape by July 4th weekend, which is my favorite weekend of the year. No drinking, no cheating, hitting the gym hard for the next six weeks. Already been at it a week and have lost 2-3 pounds. This is all part and parcel of a general self-improvement kick but the motivation doesn't hurt.

Running a trail marathon with my brother Saturday. Camping there the night before. Will be hard to not drink a lot of beer like we would typically do camping and hanging out.

I don't think I have ever run a race of any distance where I didn't drink beer the night before. All the race prep advice I have ever read says don't vary your routine too much from normal and Dont use a race to try anything new.

So bottoms up.

the carbs help , esp chillin with a few beers in relaxed home or backyard setting. going to a bar or a party where noise filtering , along with some booze or beer -that makes it tough to get up and go.

You would think it would get old to hear people exclaim, "Oh my gosh you look amazing!" but it really, really doesn't get old. Went to an event tonight with a number of folks from a previous job who I hadn't seen in 3-4 years. My favorite line, "You look AMAZING! no, no, seriously. I wasn't sure it was you. I actually thought to myself, 'Oh, that must be JC's younger, more attractive brother.'"
