If post-2000 trends continue, the probability of meeting the global obesity target is virtually zero. Rather, if these trends continue, by 2025, global obesity prevalence will reach 18% in men and surpass 21% in women; severe obesity will surpass 6% in men and 9% in women. Nonetheless, underweight remains prevalent in the world's poorest regions, especially in south Asia.

I'm a Cubs fan and I have no interest in reading what I presume is a positive article about the Cubs that's from the Atlantic.

Re: Getting into shape
It's been hit and miss getting back into an everyday routine. Hitting it 3 or 4 times a week on the elliptical, light weights otherwise.
But I did reach my first goal today - a 10 minute mile. Did 2 miles in 19:20. I know, nothing to brag about and I recognize it was on a machine not on the track but this old geezer is proud of himself.
Now where are the chips? Oh wait, I'm pretty sure there's a Tombstone sausage & pepperoni buried somewhere in the frig. Glad there's no Cards game tonight to bring me back down to earth.

Yeah, considering how long you were out, that's pretty great.

Re: Getting into shape
Anyone have a fitbit? Looks like there is everything from a strap to a "superwatch".

Re: Getting into shape
I don't have a fitbit, but track fitness activities, mostly running on garmin gps watch. If I go to gym, a non GPS activity I manually record it, just because.
The data, feedback - I like it way more than I thought I would. Nothing magic about these things. They tend to feed your intuition. Just logging the info, takes away the notion of kidding yourself about how active you really are.
In other words, they are pretty cheap and can't hurt.

Re: Getting into shape
I've been doing terrible with my fitness goals lately. I've eaten terrible and exercised basically none. I told myself I was going to turn it around this week but I really haven't. I also pulled my back out a week ago and that hasn't exactly motivated me.
