Nick Punto retired. Remember that time he was a Cardinal? I know, right?

I remember that time he was helping the Cardinals, even when he wasn't a Cardinal.

One of the unsung stories about the 2011 Cardinals was how much better the up-the-middle defense got during crunch time. We went from The Riot and Skippy as our DP combo to Furcal and Punto.

I'm not convinced Kozma got the tag on before Punto got his right hand on the bag. The throw beat him by a mile, but I'm not sure Kozma actually tagged him in time.
I think I remember that Punto made an outstanding defensive play in Game 5 of the 2011 LDS.

Manager Mike Scioscia said Thursday the three-time NL MVP is doing some swinging but still has a lengthy recovery ahead. Coming off his first 40-home run season since 2010 with St. Louis, Pujols had surgery in November after foot pain limited him to a designated hitter role during the final month of last season.
The team's medical staff thinks Pujols won't be ready for the April 4 opener against the Chicago Cubs.

Damn, at least Pujols could help up out against the Cubs this season.
