if i HAD to pick one guitarist, it would probably be SRV, just 'cause i love his blues style so much. but then i'll hear a hendrix riff and i'm just like "damn, he had complete control over that instrument".

but i'd put a list of (off the top of my head):

srv
jimi
duane allman/betts
trucks
adrian belew
larry lalonde
tom morello
zappa
buddy guy

i'd include dimebag...ugh, there's too many i'm forgetting and i'll be "mad" if i forget someone

I'm not saying Angus or EVH is the best ever - far from it. They're just the best that I've ever seen live.

Angus @ 60 >>> EVH @ 60 imho

how angus plays the way he does along with the his antics on stage is really quite mind boggling. one hell of a lot of energy to be sure. Hendrix is rated so high because IMO he really revolutionized how the electric guitar is played and the fact he was self taught and played a right handed guitar as a lefty is also pretty amazing. Lifeson i really think is underrated as well as lindsey buckingham.

Four days for us. Nice V-Day present for the wife and me.
Let me know how the show was.....
Show was fantastic. They played a solid 2 hour set, and got through damn near every one of their classic songs. There were only a couple songs played that I didn't recognize, so I'm guessing they were some of their newer songs? Mrs. Swirls was annoyed that they didn't play her favorite song, which is Money Talks.

We ended up sitting in the stands only 10 or so rows from the stage (we were on the side, but had a fantastic view). Naturally we were right underneath some of the massive deafening speakers. I had to put in my freebie set of ear plugs after the 2nd or 3rd song, because I knew there was no way I would hear my alarm clock the following morning if my ears were still ringing. Mrs. Swirls switched to ear plugs about halfway through, but then said she was too stubborn and young for them and took them back out. Her ears were still ringing when I left for work earlier this morning.

At the time when I saw Van Halen last year, I thought Eddie Van Halen was the best guitarist that I've ever seen live (before that, it was Paul Stanley). That changed last night. Angus was absolutely incredible, and blew Eddie out of the water. I'm looking forward to seeing Guns & Roses in April to see how a live Slash performance compares to Angus and/or Eddie.

wow.....saturday nights show was phenomenal......i also was ridiculously impressed with Angus Young. Great guitarist and entertainer. we had very good seats and the music was not too loud from where we were. Loud enough to pump up the adrenaline but not so loud to cause any ringing in the ears. Best concert I have seen in a long time.

Good thing we saw them when we did, Mike. It was just announced that they're stopping their tour, as Brian Johnson has been told by doctors that he is no longer able to sing due to potential permanent hearing loss. The remaining shows will apparently be rescheduled at a later date with a guest vocalist.

Crazy.
