Re: Extreme sports
As someone who is trying to get into doing triathlons and understanding just how hard they can be, this guy amazes me. He's currently about halfway through doing 50 ironmans in 50 consecutive days with one in all 50 states. He came through the St. Louis area (Lake St. Louis, I believe) a couple weeks back, did anybody see him by chance?

I didn't think there were that many ironman races to logistically do them 50 days in row 50 states. who has a weekday ironman? I peeked at his website and it does say "race".
Anyway - people are stretching the percieved limits of human endurance. These accomplishments are almost becoming hackneyed.
BTW - there is a lady that runs around my neighborhood, that last I heard does some epic # of marathons -and receives sponsorship money.
She is not a healthy looking lady - slow, shuffler.

Re: Extreme sports
I'm thinking about doing a triathlon since my dreams of being a 50 year dunker seem like to much work. I've got the running and the cycling down. Need to get started on swimming. No point in coming in last place.

Bedlam as 71 year old grandmother completed the epic Western States 100 mile footrace -just 6 seconds under the finishing cutoff.

I'm watching a twitter and comment feed on the Hardrock 100. Weird that I was watching it earlier -13 hours ago.
Killian Jornet - the Babe Ruth of ultrarunning is on track to destroy the course record. He is now descending 4000 feet over 5 miles - to Telluride. Absurd race.
