Re: The Beer Thread
I'm going to drink Natty Boh.
Beers are like my children. I love them all equally. Some are just dumber than others.

This should help clear things up.33anda3rd wrote:On the other hand, what exactly is Evil Twin Mosaic Single Hopped Imperial India Pale American Wheat Lager? Which, believe it or not, is not a made up beer. How do you explain that to someone who's not a beer geek in under 20 words?
I just had a No 15 and an Elderflower Maibock at Schlafly TR. Perhaps I'll take a nap before the game. Quality day off so far.Style: Mosaic Single Hop Imperial India Pale American Wheat Lager

A high alcohol wheat lager with a ton of Mosaic hops? 11 words.33anda3rd wrote:On the other hand, what exactly is Evil Twin Mosaic Single Hopped Imperial India Pale American Wheat Lager? Kind of a bizarre mishmash of random stuff that, to me, it doesn't make much sense to combine, but not too difficult to understand. More useful than a cute name with no indication of style, as is often the case.

Re: The Beer Thread
I'm not sure it's that simple. Lagers don't typically have wheat. Wheat beers are typically top-fermented. They don't mesh, traditionally. Then they throw 'ale' in there. That's top-fermented. Which fermentation process is it? Is this a blend, or a single brew and single fermentation?Arthur Dent wrote:A high alcohol wheat lager with a ton of Mosaic hops? 11 words.33anda3rd wrote:On the other hand, what exactly is Evil Twin Mosaic Single Hopped Imperial India Pale American Wheat Lager? For beer geeks familiar with ET's cheeky style, it's fine. But if I'm explaining it to a guest who's like "what is this exactly?" the best I can probably do is "Well, this brewery is weird and does beer geek stuff, so they just tossed something from everything in there, like a beer bouillabaisse, and sent it out. Give it a try, you might like it and you might not."

If someone can't make heads or tails of that beer, I feel like you're going to have to explain what bouillabaisse is as well.

Re: The Beer Thread
It has the clove and banana notes of a wheat beer with the crisp refreshing snap of a lager except that snap is cut a bit by the wheatiness and but then with the malt backbone of an ale and a hoppy snap but not like in a pilsner lager with noble hops, more like an ale but it's just Mosaic hops which are super alpha-acidic have you ever had Mosaic from Hill Farmstead in Vermont? no? well it's the only hop in that beer but nevermind since it's super esoteric and hard to find. Interested?

That Evil Twin beer sounds like what you get when you pour all the near empties into a pitcher.

Re: The Beer Thread
I had two Evil Twins last night, a Vanilla Imperial Stout that was so-so, and "James Beer" that the brewed in collaboration with The Aviary for the James Beard Awards a month ago. It was a Berliner and a pretty damn good one.
