I've mentioned this before somewhere in this thread so I totally agree. I used to weigh myself everyday and would get depressed after having a really good eating/workout day and still see no progress or even a weight gain. Made me wonder why I even bothered with it at all. Once I switched to weekly weigh ins I consistently saw progress and stayed motivated.JCShutout wrote:More than any specific plan, which I'm sure all of us will suggest various different ones, I want to say, don't weigh yourself daily. Your weight fill flux based on workouts, water weight etc, and weighing daily can be rough psychologically.
Try weekly. Make it your Sunday morning routine.

No thanks. I'll make Planet Fitness work for me at $10/month and then find somewhere better once I prove to myself I can stick with a program.
Just being honest here.
I put money into it as well. signing up for races etc adds up. Then there was one I paid for and didn't make because I'm lightweight when overtired, and drank fancy high ABV beers with lukethedrifter.

My comment was more made in jest and my own pathetic state of affairs.

This is good. I'm going weekly with my weigh-ins.

I had a stomach bug over the past 4 days. the impact on how my pants fit this morning was just like I'd hope for after working out a lot. Now I need to eat a bit better and actually exercise once in a while to try to make it stick.

21 day fix. This program is really incredible if you can stick with the food plan. It is simple and work outs are 30 minutes long. Gets results fast.

Re: Getting into shape
I started a weight loss competition with someone from work today. We had our first weigh in and the winner is whoever loses the highest percentage of weight by June 8. Not sure how seriously I'll take it since the stakes are rather low (lunch at Tom John's which will run less than $10) but so far so good. I'm ready to stab someone because I decided to start eating better immediately and now I have to fight the urge to stop and get something delicious and high calorie for dinner on the way home. This is going to be a long month.
And it doesn't help that tomorrow is my birthday and I want nothing more but to just sit at the bar and drink all day. That's a bad idea though both for losing weight and for my bank account.
However I can say that back in March I was closer to 320 pounds but since then I haven't really been trying but am down to 303.00 according to the scale at work today. In that time I haven't really changed much other than choosing to walk places a little more and I didn't hit the bar as often. Instead of every Friday, there were a few times where I took two weeks off without a single beer or shot. The sad thing is that simply cutting out booze would make a HUGE difference but I can't do that this time of year. I just have to figure out how to cut back some at softball. I can't play coed beer league softball with the groups that I do and not drink at all. Not an option.

Re: Getting into shape
they are feeling better. hard to strengthen the knee innards but if i'm cautious then i think i'll be alright. for me cautious means running on a treadmill at 6% incline at 6 mph for 30 min. for me, that's a hard ass workout that is kinder on the knees. usually i get a pretty good sharp pain that lasts for about 3-4 minutes then goes away.
then i do 30 min on bike and 10 on rower. will add a bit of weights once i feel like i've got my cardio where i need it.
