What are the Reds thinking here? Is there something wrong with Cingrani? He seems like a totally serviceable #5 starter. He has good projections, good FIP, etc....what am I missing here?

Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports said Brad Penny is "the leading candidate for the White Sox's fifth-starter's job."
Rosenthal is certainly in the know, so it's an interesting observation. With Chris Sale sidelined for the start of the season and the club hesitant to throw prospect Carlos Rodon into the mix right off the bat, it's easy to see how Penny, who's in camp on a minor-league contract, could head north with the club. The 36-year-old has a 3.52 ERA through three Cactus League starts thus far.
