Rant: Apple Watch

Post by jim »

I don't want the thing, and I sure as hell don't want an app on my phone that I can't delete for it. But the last release of ios did exactly that - put the app my phone. I hate Apple.

Tired of pulling your $800 device out of your pocket every time you get a message or wonder what time it is?
Here's a $500 device so you don't have to!

apparently, if you want to use the watch to collect running/fitness data -you have to take along the Iphone for that as well (no GPS in the watch).

I'm sure we have a rant on apple somewhere else, but I'm really starting to despise Itunes program or whatever the [expletive] you call it on the PC. It prompts me to update all the time and I say no, until eventually my kid or wife wants to do something on my PC with their Iphones and I am forced to update.

I know there are ways to fix things and set preferences in Itunes, like I have done the last dozen times I updated Itunes. I'm tired of relearning how to stop it from doing [expletive] I don't want it do, and get it do things I do want it do. Everytime I go in to update my podcasts - a bunch of top 40 starts downloading that my wife or kid purchased.

Fortunately their music only syncs to my pc wasting it's space, and the manual sync to my ipod for music is holding. Unfortunately that is not the case with podcasts -it randomly uploads podcasts that I listened to and deleted over a year ago.

Also, when I download music from the iTunes store - I usually get a few things at once. It used to go into a folder called recently purchased - but now after downloading new tunes I have to sift thru the entire library to find it so I can manually drag it over to my ipod.

itunes is an abosolute disaster. Like alot of families, we started off on one account and have branched off. We can't figure what is what anymore, I would love to just blow up all of the accounts and start over. Music that is lost that we know he have bought, music that nobody claims to have bought (alot of Glen MIller stuff and we don't have Glen Miller fans in the family - where is my Wings and what the [expletive] is this bull [expletive]?). I have special sync lists for all of our accounts, because syncing an entire library will get you alot of crap.

It's a full blown cluster [expletive].

Last time I tried to install itunes about a year and a half ago, I got some program, maybe a virus, like vaultlock or something. The IT guy tried to remove it and couldn't. It would pop up every time I tried to do my time sheet or anything with our accounting softward. Super [expletive] up. So...I never have tried to re-install it. I've got a couple thousand songs saved on a harddrive that I'm not quite sure what to do with.

we have the same issue jim. We started off with a shared account because the kid is a kid, and my wife's laptop is her work's property. They have a tendency to re-buy the same crappy music that was already bought, and that can be heard within 20 minutes on a radio station.

with the podcasts -yesterday, I had one from 2011 somehow sync onto my ipod without my asking it aboard.

And some recent ones I keep deleting and they resync onto my ipod. I suspect this has something to do with the fact that I typically don't listen to the very completion of a podcast, so it isn't marked as "played".

Is it going to have the patented 30-minute apple battery? That'll be awesome for a watch.
