I wish Choate was in this thread for similar reasons.Vidor wrote:As I've said before, this is completely irrational, but I was ready for Neshek to go after he gave up that homer in Game 6. Wainwright battles for seven innings, leaves with a 3-2 lead, Neshek comes in, boom.
More rationally, as we all know relievers are fungible and paying top dollar for a guy like Pat Neshek probably isn't a good idea.

Re: Former Cardinals Watch
Joe Kelly surrendered two runs in three innings Wednesday in a win over the Yankees.
Kelly struck out four. He looked exceptional for two innings, and he would have escaped the third inning unscathed had Jeff Bianchi made a decent throw to third to complete a double play when Jose Pirela make a baserunning mistake on a line drive. Bianchi, though, messed up the play, and the Yankees went on to score twice. In truth, they deserved to, as Kelly gave up three straight well-hit balls, and it was only luck that Bianchi was right in the path of one of them.

“@David11Lee Good curves from Shelby Miller in the 1st. The one at 81 showed solid bite and downward break. That'll play.” Good velocity too

Joe Kelly was removed from his start Monday against the Mets with an apparent injury.
It was hard to tell what happened, but the Red Sox will surely provide a status update soon. Kelly's last pitch registered at 97 mph. He had allowed three earned runs on seven hits before departing with two outs on the board in the top of the third inning.

Hand probably got blistered from throwing that heater.

Joe Kelly left his Grapefruit League start Monday against the Mets due to mild biceps tightness.
Kelly was limited to fastballs in the outing because of the discomfort and wound up yielding three earned runs on seven hits before exiting in the top of the third inning. He told reporters after the start that he's dealt with a similar feeling in the past and that it "usually doesn't last too long." It sounds like he'll be fine for the beginning of the regular season.

Re: Former Cardinals Watch
http://www.fangraphs.com/blogs/steven-w ... ternative/Today’s performance continued a trend from his two previous spring training starts, as he’s now allowed 17 hits in 7 2/3 innings this spring; his spring training ERA currently stands at 11.05. On their own, the results aren’t a big deal, but when you combine it with a potential injury, it might be fair to say that Kelly’s spot could be up for grabs at this point.
Joe Kelly (biceps tendinitis) will be reevaluated Tuesday.
Kelly left his Grapefruit League start Monday against the Mets due to what was termed as mild biceps tightness. Peter Abraham of the Boston Globe writes that it "seems likely" his next start will be pushed back, but there should be more clarity on his status soon.

Royals signed INF Rafael Furcal to a minor league contract.
Furcal, who tore his hamstring in the Dominican Winter League, will not be in major league camp and will rehab on the minor league side. The 37-year-old infielder has appeared in just nine games over the last two seasons due to injury and is unlikely to make much of an impact with Kansas City.
