You could have asked him how Courteney was doing.

Nobody gives a [expletive] about their credit or their bank account when they are in the process kicking the bucket. I'd trade those stories any day for that. Seems like a small price to pay.JL21 wrote:Those years destroyed my bank account, my credit, and my dream of working for a MLB team completely evaporated in just 3 years, but I wouldn't trade my years working in baseball for anything.
Dirty himself was a legend. He got his name- Dirty- in college. He had a 20+ game hitting streak and refused to wash any part of his uniform as long as the streak was alive. And it became a self-fulfilling prophecy from that point forward in his career.
He was a really great dude- a genuinely good human being in every way- but he was disgusting as hell. His uniform had a giant chew stain drizzled down the front. As a MiLB coach, he was the third base coach during games. At our ballpark, the sun set down the 1B line. When the setting sun was just right, Dirty would squat down in the 3B coach box and you could see the sun accentuating the poop stains on his home whites. He had his own personal stories about everyone from Leo Mazzone to Clete Boyer to Dale Murphy to Hank Aaron to Frank Robinson, even Willie Mays and McCovey (both former teammates). Dirty is the reason I once spoke to Bobby Cox on the phone, if only for a moment to take down the message that Dirty should give him a call.
The working for an MLB team - ok that one smarts a little.

You ever just get Hungry Like The Wolf stuck in your head? Think about it. It's a catchy tune.

My cousin took some of the stickers off and put them back on in random ways so that the cube became unsolvable. That cube was like an OCD person's worst nightmare.docellis wrote:Am I the only one who peeled the stickers off the rubick's cube as a young child? And sloppily put them back on to make it look like I figured things out?

Re: Random musings
Every time I read an article about the upcoming season and I see the words "the death of Oscar Taveras," I still am startled by those words and think "did that really happen?"

You mean he traded stickers from one cube to another? So like one had an extra blue but was short a red? Just taking the stickers and putting them back on in different spots isn't going to matter.pioneer98 wrote:My cousin took some of the stickers off and put them back on in random ways so that the cube became unsolvable. That's not even close to true. If you put three blue stickers on a corner piece, you ain't solving it. For a less extreme example, if white and red are on opposite planes and you put a white sticker and a red sticker on an edge piece, you also ain't solving it. And if you don't know how it works you probably wouldn't notice.

Re: Random musings
Even just reversing order of the three stickers on the corner piece would mess it up. Do that for all eight corners and, again, someone who doesn't know how it works is gonna have a bad time.
