Southwest...it sucks flying them (thank God for headphones), but at least they're on time.Schlich wrote:Yeah but usually you're saving money

I wonder if UA is better in Chicago because it's their hub. I actually have more confidence in them than other airlines. Southwest flies out of a different airport up here, I've flown them and actually had the single most bizarre flight experience of my life with them:

Well, I'll counter that argument by saying it was a flight out of O'Hare on United that the bastards lost our luggage.jim wrote:I wonder if UA is better in Chicago because it's their hub. Luggage can happen anywhere, I'm just wondering about flights getting out on time etc... I've heard - don't know if it's true because I don't the industry - that United has preference at O'Hare. For our recent flight, the flight we took was an "ad-hoc" (I think that was the term) flight - they just created it for that one day. I'm wondering if a carrier like United at O'Hare has the inside track of doing stuff like that. All I know is that we got < 3 hours late after the 5th biggest snow storm in Chicago, I was happy/surprised/impressed.

Yes, losing luggage can happen to anyone on any airline....but losing someone's luggage for 4 damn days w/ zero communication & of the people we did talk every single one of them either didn't have a clue or fed us a line of BS.jim wrote:Luggage can happen anywhere, I'm just wondering about flights getting out on time etc... Only to complicate things further, the airport in the Virgin Islands doesn't have employees at the counter unless a flight happens to be coming in so the only way to find out if our luggage had made it was to drive across the island (literally) & go see for ourselves if the luggage happened to show up. Oh, and the infrastructure is shall I say [expletive], and that's an understatement. And in the fact they drive on the wrong side of the road down there, every trip was an adventure.

Flying into, out of, or connecting through Chicago sucks...and you got lucky with United. Count your blessings.jim wrote:I wonder if UA is better in Chicago because it's their hub. Southwest is bizarre, but at least they're on time and you always have a crazy story to tell when you leave...it truly is the Walmart of airlines.
