That said, it's hard to imagine their season going much differently. I guess the Indiana game is probably a win with DGB, but the UGA game is no different. They probably rank a little bit higher, but I don't think they would've been in the New Year's Eve Six. Primarily because all the DGBs in the world wouldn't have stopped 'Bama in that game and that probably would've knocked Mizzou out of the bigger bowls. And they probably would've ended up in... the Citrus Bowl.
You probably are right, but a win vs. Indiana and we don't hear that narrative all season long. A 1-loss team won't be unranked at any point and maybe even Top 10 heading into the CCG.
And just to fall deeper into the rabbit hole, if DGB makes it look like a somewhat competitive game with Bama, say final score within 20, that could be enough to hold off Ole Miss or Miss St.

Just when I've got a Kuligowski story for tomorrow's P-D, @FootballScoop is reporting that Illinois has offered him co-coordinator job
Hoping to confirm Kuligowski news now. Would be major blow to Missouri's staff if he leaves
Refresher: Kuligowski has been with Pinkel for 23 years. Did not get Mizzou def coordinator job that went to Barry Odom in December
Fluid situation with Kuligowski & Illinois. I don't believe he's accepted a job yet. Stay tuned.
I'm pretty happy with Odom, but it's going to suck big-time if it costs the program Kuligowski. If he hasn't left yet, double his damn salary and do everything you can to keep him there.
Yeah, I don't really blame the guy for wanting a coordinator job. And he's earned it.
On the flip side, that's a bad situation to go into. Beckman's had almost no success and I'd think he'd be out of a job with anything less than 6-6 (and maybe even with 6-6). Attendance has been laughably bad. What good is it to get a coordinator job if you're looking for a new job 11 months later?
It's horrible timing for Mizzou if he ends up leaving.
Right. Why the hell would you want to got to Illinois? The Pinkel coaching tree isn't exactly bearing super juicy fruit. Mo St, Wyoming, Illinois co DC. Am I missing anything?
Of course that means he's been able to keep the gang together longer than probably any other program.
Both Wazzou coordinators are former Pinkel assistants, now that Grinch just left to be their DC. And of course Odom is back after leaving Pinkel's staff to be a DC elsewhere.
Christensen sort of failed at Wyoming, with the caveat that it was a pretty crappy program when he got there, and even his mediocrity was more success than they'd seen in 20ish years other than a few years in the late 90s.
Alex Grinch just left the program to become the Washington St. defensive coordinator. David Yost is there, too, although in a really small capacity- I think he's the inside receivers coach or something. Part of Yost's small role may be that he wanted to take on way less responsibility after leaving Mizzou.
Matt Eberflus, the guy that preceded Steckel, is an NFL assistant now- I think LB coach with the Cowboys.
I'm sure I'm missing some. But it is a mixed bag.
And I guess at least for now, the Kuligowski stuff is just rumor.
