This reminds me of a couple of winters ago when we had a nice run of ice and snow and a pretty decent snowstorm one night. The back door to my house at the time is is at the top of a flight of concrete stairs above a walk-out basement. The landing is small - like 3'x3'.Kid lost his keys (car and dorm room), credit card, drivers license in the snow at work last night.
So I decide to leave in the middle of the night to make an unnecessary trip to the gas station. The stairs and landing are completely iced over and as soon as a I locked the door and turn to walk down the stairs, I slip and fall on my ass - throwing the keys into a bush/snowbank next to my neighbor's house. I think that's the direction they went in. It's hard to tell because it's pitch [expletive] black outside. Since I don't want to die on this concrete square ten feet off the ground, I try and stand only to fall down again because it's that slippery. No way I can walk down the stairs. . I try scooting forward on my ass one stair at a time and immediately gain too much speed so I end up sliding all the way down, which would've been fun except for the concrete stairs.
Eventually I find my keys and a bag of potting soil to use as traction to get back inside. (I never used the front door and I didn't carry a key for it.) I guess the next day it was above freezing and my landlord stopped by, He wanted to know why there was mud all over the stairs. This was right after my upstairs neighbors complained about noise and he noticed cigarette butts everywhere in the backyard from that same party. I started to explain and he just said "nevermind."
