It honestly leaves me a little conflicted about a lot of stuff. Koch sounds like a total jackass in the first paragraph or two.
Good article.

I'm drinking Ayinger Urweisse (Bavarian Dark Weizen) - it's strong and good. Sure enough, on the label in fine print - "brewed according to the Reinheitsgebot Purity Law of 1516."

This is one of my favorite beers.

It's interesting. I had thought the maturation of the craft beer movement meant shifting away from West Coast IPA as the American ideal micro. Sounds like I'm wrong.

Exactly. It's a pretty meaningless thing to hang your hat on. It's a lame attempt to link up a mediocre beer with a long, awesome tradition of German brewing (which, by the way, is an awesome tradition regardless- it has nothing to do with the purity law), and it's no guarantee whatsoever of quality. For [expletive]'s sake, Heineken is a Reinheitsgebot beer. It's just crappy marketing to trick the average schmuck into drinking their dumb beer.

Interesting stuff.

It's not something I'd delve into -more interested in doing my part on the consumption end, rather than the producing. For me, too much cost- $1800, space, and time - it's not like it's a Keurig for beer.

33rd what say you? who gets one of these? I see this more of a potential tool for brewing hobbyists. What sort of restaurant would put one of these in their repertoire - and could they easily even if they wanted it (alcohol regs)?

The beer forum banter is prolific

I like 4 Hands less than most people -don't like Contact High or Divided Sky Rye - but that ^ beer and their milk stout are good.

I'm looking forward to drinking the rest of these tonight.

I assume you were busy tending to your mom. If not, I am very disappointed there wasn't a get together at Nadine's!!
