I'm drinking Ayinger Urweisse (Bavarian Dark Weizen) - it's strong and good. Sure enough, on the label in fine print - "brewed according to the Reinheitsgebot Purity Law of 1516."

1516 purity law - does that mean you have to boil the water out of the river/sewer before your brew with it?

It wasn't about purity. They were just trying to keep some of the grain in food, ie bread and not use all of it up making hooch.

Met Schlich last night for a few beers. Good times! When is that 10 year GRB reunion? Would love to meet some more folks and reconnect with a few that I have met in the past!

Try the Ayinger Celebrator doppelbock. It's [expletive] fantastic. And you get little plastic goat figurines with each bottle.

Judging from the Urweisse (not even a favored style of mine) and their Oktoberfest, Ayinger makes great beer.

Also, the dudes at Craft Beer Cellar tell me that Perennial is looking to move to a bigger space, and 2nd Shift is in line to move to Perennial's locale. 2nd Shift makes some good beer locally, but availability limited.

speaking of beer, i wanted to try out the Perennial barrel aged abraxas when they tapped it on wednesday, but it ran out in two and a half hours. I'm pretty new to this whole beer snobbery thing, but that seems outrageous to me.

This is a pretty interesting read about how the craft beer movement has ditched Sam Adams and Jim Koch.

It honestly leaves me a little conflicted about a lot of stuff. Koch sounds like a total jackass in the first paragraph or two.
