Are you hand shoveling the runway for your private jet or something? We had three inches but it was an easy shovel, done in about fifteen minutes.IMADreamer wrote:Surprise two inches of snow over night. [expletive] this winter. Nah, we plow about 7 miles of roads out at the farm and plow out neighbors driveways. Then I came into town and scooped my house, my parents house, my gfs house, and a couple elderly neighbors.cardsfansince82 wrote:Are you hand shoveling the runway for your private jet or something? That, my friend, is what they make snowblowers for.
Actually, two inches isn't even enough to justify plowing or blowing or shoveling a driveway.

I thought you were kidding IMA, about scooping. A fast melting 2 inches, don't you just throw some chems on the roads to speed it along?
Granted, I'm always amazed at the temp diff when I go out to the hinterlands from the inner STL burbs. I'll go for a trail run in the hills out along Meramec -highway 44. In town our snow will be completely gone. Out there -trails are snow packed in parts. No sunlight hits parts in and along the steeps. Last weekend - temps dropped 7 degrees from home to Grafton IL

While I admit I probably didn't need to do that much scooping I also don't want one of my neighbors to fall and get hurt. They are all in their 70s and 80s and it was pretty slick. As for the roads we don't put chemicals on them out in the country, just some chips if it's going to be icy. Clearing the snow usually works best though, especially if we can get to it before anyone drives on it.

Re: Winter 2014/15
Heard on the radio yesterday that we have had a sunless December. Not one day in the month that was reported as sunny or partly sunny, and the trend looks like it will continue. Our forecast:
Tomorrow will be grey and cold and then more grey and cold, followed by grey, cold, and wind and then grey, cold, and wet. Then more grey, followed by more grey, and then mostly grey. Cold, then grey, then more grey, then very grey, then very very grey, then jim goes to the top of the Sears tower and jumps.

I don't know what's going on here but we haven't hit 70 in nearly two weeks and aren't forecast too in the next ten days, it's nigh on Chicago-like here
