I have intensified my workout, and I'm old school with my clothing. Grey t-shirt under a grey sweatshirt/hoody. I ran 3 miles interval training this a.m. with the sweatshirt on, sweat absolutely pouring off of me after that. I went to do my core workout, and took my sweatshirt off to reveal my shirt that you could fill a bucket up by ringing out. Sweat dripping off of me like a running faucet. I use a towel, wipe, etc.. but I've noticed that the Underarmour wearing crowd that keeps their heartrate below 100 give me dirty looks - like no amount of wiping is going to make it acceptable to use a mat/machine/big beach bally thing after I have used it.
[expletive] 'em I say.

Them: Can I work in a set with you?
Me: No.

^ happens less and less, but did again recently.
for example: I'll do as many chin-ups I can muster. Stop to regrip, catch my breath for 10secs or so, and do a few more. Stop, regrip, catch breath, do a few more. Then I'm done and on to something else for a while. Some weirdo wants to jump in during that 10sec interval.

Re: Rant: Weightroom Etiquette
Another thing I do that I think might piss some people off is I have several different sets of dumbells and a curlbar around a bench. I do circuits - I've got 6 or so upper body lifts with dumbells that I do and I go right from one to the next without rest. Because the whole point is to go from one to the next as fast as possible without rest, I get what I need and put it around my bench. Usually thats 2-3 sets of dumbells and a curlbar. Plus I spread a towel next to the bench for pushups (I do a lot of pushups). I look like a hoarder. I tell people to take they want if they need it, but most people are too timid to ask. I think they just work around me and probably [expletive] about me on a message board.
I've been wiping up after myself with those spray bottles. Well not really, but I fake it so it looks like I cleaned up after mysefl.

One thing I am not looking forward to once I start the AM routine is that morning crowd. Not as many honeys. More old farts, and people with OCD issues. There is a weight room pariah at every gym, and that dude has been there the 10 times or so I've gotten my arse out of bed in the AM (and no, it's not my reflection in the mirror).
there are a few cases in the evening crowd, but they generally are more people I can tolerate. Plus, when I need a breather, the evening has some nice-looking ladies in an exercise class to look down on from the track and/or some raucous basketball games.

Re: Rant: Weightroom Etiquette
The average age in the morning is higher than the evening, and I suppose if you can't appreciate hot 40/50 year olds like I can then you might find the evening more appealing. But, the great thing about getting old, is you CAN appreciate hot 40/50 year olds. So in my case I'd put the morning group up against the evening crowd any day of the week.
Perspective. When you start watching Gilligan's Island and start reevaluating your thoughts toward Mrs. Howell like I have, then you can find gold in the morning.

we have a fit neighbor lady at our gym that looks like the better version of January Jones - I'm guessing she's 50, but can hardly tell. Only way I can guess is since we've lived nearby for so long.jim wrote:The average age in the morning is higher than the evening, and I suppose if you can't appreciate hot 40/50 year olds like I can then you might find the evening more appealing. Anyway, your comment from above reminded me of this from Grand Budapest Hotel
M. Gustave: [Of Mme. Celine] She was dynamite in the sack, by the way.
Zero: ...She was 84, Monsieur Gustave.
M. Gustave: Mmm, I've had older. When you're young, it's all filet steak, but as the years go by, you have to move on to the cheap cuts. Which is fine with me, because I like those. More flavorful, or so they say.

Jim the hoarding def annoys me but I've gotten over the timid nature and just ask cause I can rip thru a set in no time.
For you early morning gym rats...what's the pool usually look like in the morning? I'm thinking about taking up swimming in the morning before work when my knee heals up.
