looks like Perennial is somehow involved. Don't know about the ratings, but it is gah-oo-oood on tap.

Re: The Beer Thread
tried Heavy Riff brewpub in Dogtown a while back. I think I liked the one beer I had, but remember more that they didn't have food, the physical bar was neat, and the rest of the place was sort of sterile and the customers were like a clique. I should go back because they said they were working on getting food

Re: The Beer Thread
It does have that open sterile feel to it, I agree. A plus is that they pour other good beers if you don't want their hit or miss stuff. A plus or minus is that you can bring in food, plus being their food might end up sucking- believe they were talking about some deal with a bbq joing, minus being you have to go get it.
A plus being they are in Dogtown and that's not a terrible place to be.
All in all, pretty so so.

New local beer to try: beer made with invasive species - zebra mussels and Eurasian milfoil (which I prefer to imagine is oil extracted from Eurasian milfs)

No, I haven't and I think I read that they barely use those ingredients so they don't have an appreciable impact on taste - just that they can say they are ingredients.
Regardless, I assume it would pair nicely with Asian carp fillets on a bed of garlic mustard greens, cooked and eaten with utensils made of buckthorn. Appetizer: deep fried gypsy moth larvae. Desert: chocolate covered Japanese beetles and emerald ash borers. Table decorations: purple loosestrife and reed canary grass. Mmmmm....invasive species....

It's like Christmas Eve for me, waiting to see what sort of beer Mrs. Freed brings back from Wisconsin. I send her a list, but you never know what will be available. The crappy summer style beers should be scarce, and the good stuff that NG puts out in winter should be on the shelves. Just surprise me.

Re: The Beer Thread
BCBS went on sale at Binny's on Black Friday. On Thanksgiving day at 430p the line started. There were 700-800 people in line at 9am when they opened. They were sold out at 1153am. There were jerks on craigslist selling bombers for $125 by noon. There is a guy advertising on craigslist that he will pay up to four people $50 to get in line and purchase when it's released at 5pm at Whole Foods tomorrow afternoon.
Meanwhile. Corner store down the street from the restaurant has it just sitting out on the counter. $29.99 for a four-pack, $19.99 for the bombers.
