Re: The Beer Thread
Just did a taste test of an Ayinger Octoberfest -in the bottle vs poured in a glass.
The difference isn't that great. The carbonation in the bottle is a tad too much. The less carbonation when poured into a glass is just right.
The bottled stuff stays colder for longer period of time.
In conclusion: bad beers and lighter beers probably are better in a bottle (or can). Darker, real beers & better beers - if you aren't going to nurse it until it's warm and completely flat-then in a glass they may be slightly better.

Drank Schlafly Oktoberfest last night. Out of bottle. Not as good as poured into glass.

No but they are getting ready - the damn gas stations had the 40# bags of salt out already.Freed Roger wrote:Ice on the lake yet?jim wrote:Was up in Oshkosh by gosh today. Colder than a mother [expletive]. Two Women. Deeee-licious.
Just did an bottle/glass experiment with some Spotted Cow and I think if you think it taste better out of a glass vs the bottle then you have a good imagination. Seriously I can't tell one bit of difference. In theory I could see how the smell would enhance the taste, but who takes a big snort of something as you are drinking it? Sounds like a recipe for sucking some beer down your lungs. I hold my breath when I take a swig, because I'm a normal human being that tries to avoid drowning.
So I don't think smelling it is helping most people.

That's odd. I normally, subconsciously, take a slight inhale through my nose as I drink, then obviously hold my breath as I swallow.jim wrote:No but they are getting ready - the damn gas stations had the 40# bags of salt out already.Freed Roger wrote:Ice on the lake yet?jim wrote:Was up in Oshkosh by gosh today.
